Walking the Dog is now sold out. It cost £370 to print and over and above that I
was able to donate £300 to church funds in September. The reprint of What were
we like??!! (300 copies) cost £499 and I have just recently recouped that. Sales
have been good in the run up to Christmas but understandably will slow down now
and hopefully pick up in the summer.
My thanks to Douglas Whitie for stocking these books and for his invaluable advice.
Junior Choir and Eddleston Voices
The choirs resume their rehearsals on Thursday 11th January at 4.30pm and
7.30pm respectively. New members are always welcome to either choir and no
audition is necessary.
Eddleston Junior Choir singing for ‘Children helping Children’
On 23 rd December 2017,
Eddleston Parish Church
Junior Choir sang in the
Tesco Store in Peebles
for 30 minutes and
raised £59.88. They
decided that they wanted
to give the money to a
children’s charity and
after discussion, Tweed
Togs was chosen. Our
photograph shows Grace
Wise presenting Mrs.
Susan Walker with the
donation. Also present are Rev Calum Macdougall, Helen Cobb, Hazel Craigie and
Sheena Hall from Tweed Togs, and Lorraine Mulholland Junior Choir Musical
Director. Tweed Togs is an initiative run by local volunteers in Tweeddale. The
charity supplies good quality, donated children’s clothing, carefully packed in gift
bags, to struggling local families. It has talked and listened to people and gathered
information from every corner of the community. The group works via referrals
from Health Visitors, Social Workers and other Family Welfare Professionals. Tweed
Togs has no direct link with the recipients. For further information about the charity
Eddleston Church Cleaning
Monday 26th February at 9.30am. If you are free please come along and help us to
keep on top of the cleaning at Eddleston Parish Church. The more volunteers we
have the less time it takes.
Calling all gardeners!
A wee reminder that the Christian Aid Week plant sale will be on Saturday May 19 th
and while it’s not exactly gardening weather just now we can still start preparing
by thinking about which plants could be divided in the spring or seeds sown or
cuttings taken. Please contact John Hutchinson (St Andrews Leckie) for more
information (01721720885/jhutchinson0444@btinternet.com)
