Schulte Hospitality Group has<br />

announced the reopening of the<br />

historic Renaissance Des Moines Savery<br />

Hotel on February 1, 2018. After an<br />

18-month transformation, the city’s icon<br />

of sophistication and luxury has been<br />

reinvented with a nod to the hotels<br />

history, while engaging the luxury<br />

traveler with enhancements that are<br />

reflective of the Renaissance brand.<br />

Cauhaus Design was selected by<br />

Renaissance Hotels to transform the<br />

Renaissance Des Moines Savery into<br />

the proud gem of the city, unveiling<br />

209 fully reimaged guestrooms, an<br />

indigenous restaurant, revitalized<br />

event space and touches of the city<br />

and hotels history throughout.<br />

The reimagined arrival experience<br />

appeals to the millennial travelers,<br />

immediately enveloping guests with<br />

luxury as they enter the hotel. The<br />

outside awnings of the hotel were<br />

refurbished and the Hotel Savery<br />

name will now light the streets at<br />

night. Another exterior corner hotel<br />

sign will be added by Spring and will<br />

mirror the hotels exterior from the<br />

early 1900’s.<br />

The renovation of the lobby<br />

includes a new wall of historical photos<br />

and a timeline which will transport<br />

guests back in time through the hotel’s<br />

100-year history. There is also the<br />

addition of a memorial wall to the<br />

Women’s Auxiliary Corps which was<br />

hosted at the Renaissance Des Moines<br />

during the war, 1942-1945.<br />

SCOPRI, is a new Italian restaurant<br />

located within the hotel. Guests will<br />

experience reinvented culinary classics<br />

from the Old World that pay homage<br />

to the local mainstays of Des Moines.<br />

The restaurant décor was imagined<br />

through a partnership with L2 Studios<br />

and Des Moines’ own West End<br />

Salvage. Reclaimed elevator doors<br />

from the Equitable Building now lead<br />

into the Private Dining Space in Scorpri<br />

and an old saloon door will allow<br />

guests to mark their experience in<br />

Scopri with a signed wine cork.<br />

CODA LOUNGE will offer crafted<br />

cocktails to tell the story of their


inception pre and post prohibition.<br />

Guests can select wine from the hotel’s<br />

Italian wine list honoring the grapes<br />

from the Old World to pair perfectly<br />

with the modern Italian cuisines from<br />

Coda and Scopri’s menu. Coda Lounge<br />

saw a slight transformation in décor<br />

with the addition of local artwork from<br />

Olsen Larson.<br />

The renovation creates sensation<br />

throughout the 2nd floor event space<br />

with additions of unique furniture,<br />

paparazzi escapes to “recharge”<br />

and a paparazzi walkway that leads<br />

guests to the Des Moines skywalk.<br />

R.E.N. Meetings will be alive in each<br />

space with new banquet chairs, new<br />

tables and linen, new sound and<br />

lighting systems and modern lighting<br />

throughout. The Savery Ballroom’s<br />

historical arched ceiling was<br />

rejuvenated with lighting features and<br />

decorative tiles add a unique element<br />

for any event hosted in the space.<br />

The reinvention of the guestrooms<br />

includes a newly designed bathroom<br />

with ample counter space, walk-in<br />

showers with surrounding tile and<br />

modern features throughout. In<br />

addition, new mattresses, larger<br />

televisions, and new Keurig machines<br />

were added to each guestroom as well<br />

as new plush furniture, linens, and<br />

bedding. The renovation included an<br />

overhaul of the buildings mechanical<br />

systems which now will allow guests<br />

a more comfortable setting in their<br />

space upon check-in.<br />

The hotel will open with 3<br />

guestroom floors, lobby, restaurants<br />

and meeting space. Finishing touches<br />

look to conclude by early March with<br />

all floors including the Club Lounge<br />

and all remaining guestrooms.<br />

The hotel plans to celebrate later<br />

this spring with a Grand Reopening<br />

event displaying the renovation and<br />

the Renaissance brand to the city and<br />

its partners.<br />
