Villa Laura - Tuscany

A stay at Villa Laura is your chance to live out your own Under the Tuscan Sun. This ten-bedroom property played the role of the villa Bramasole in the film. Just as the fictional villa is given a makeover, Villa Laura was recently renovated with an eye to traditional style and touches of quiet luxury. Airy and spacious, it offers a Hollywood-worthy retreat in the Tuscan countryside near the town of Cortona. Your vacation at Villa Laura can be as relaxing or active as you like. Stroll the grounds and explore the lake, take a swim in the pool or a dip in the jetted tub, try your luck at ping pong, bocce and a pool table or cook up produce from the local market in the pizza oven or outdoor barbecue. If you’d rather just unwind, you can sunbathe on the lawn, sip wine from the wine cellar at the outdoor dining area, enjoy a quiet evening in the games room or home theater or browse via Wi-Fi. Inside the villa’s centuries-old stone walls, you’ll find bright, traditional living spaces. The living room’s rustic beamed ceilings and tile floors are given a lift of understated elegance by soft green upholstery, a gallery wall and a crystal chandelier. The comfortable, neutral-toned dining room welcomes everyone with its long table, and is open to the well-equipped modern kitchen, which is laid out around a large stone-topped island. The villa’s ten bedrooms are divided between the main house, farmhouse and conservatory; each has an en-suite bathroom, air conditioning and Wi-Fi access. In the main house, there are four bedrooms with king beds and one with a queen bed, easily accessible on the ground floor. In the farmhouse, you’ll find two bedrooms with queen beds, one bedroom with a king bed and one bedroom with two twin beds. The conservatory, or limonaia, has one bedroom with a queen bed. A true Tuscan experience wouldn’t be complete without a trip into town. Luckily, it’s only a 15-minute walk or a 5-minute drive from Villa Laura to the town of Cortona, where you’ll find a grocery store, restaurant, tennis court, clinic, gym and train station. Take a day trip to the Lake Trasimento beach, 15 minutes away, or even a ski area, a 2-hour drive away. Pack your clubs for a round at the golf course, 30 minutes away. It’s an easy 40-minute drive to or from the nearest airport, in Perugia.
