Erie Peninsula Drive Scenic Ride
Route Length: 12 Miles

Written Directions
This route starts at the
intersection of 12th
St. and Peninsula Dr.
in Erie. Just follow
Peninsula Dr. north
onto and around
Presque Isle. The road
eventually circles back
to the starting point.
This is a great route
for easy riders and
beginners.
Scenery
If you’re from out of town, you have to
ride this one for the scenery! Peninsula
Dr. is located on Presque Isle State
Park. Presque Isle is a peninsula which
stretches about 9 miles out into Lake
Erie. The road forms a parameter
around the “almost island”. You’ll start
on the south side, noting the view of
Erie from across the bay. As you circle
the peninsula and come back to the
north side you will see several beaches
and picnic pavilions. I recommend
catching the sunset on the north side
(voted one of the top ten sunsets in
the U.S.). This road makes a great
destination for a day trip. It is a scenic,
easy ride.
Road Quality
The road conditions are good, however
be aware this is a leisure ride with a
slow speed limit. Look out for traffic
on the weekends. Motorcyclists and
tourists enjoy this ride for the scenery
and laid back leisure ride.
Roadside Amenities
The area is a tourist attraction, so you’ll
find a ranger station with information.
You’ll find junk food vending machines
and public bathrooms at Beach 6.
Trip Tips:
Places to eat: Sara’s (at the head of the
park) and The Sand Bar (corner of 12th
St. and Peninsula Dr.)
Tip: Bring some flip flops and shorts, or
swim in your riding gear. The water is
great!
