I work at Aritzia, I’m a sales associate there. I don’t really do
too much else to be honest with you hahah, I’m very much a
homebody. I’m very chill
I always say that I like to be comfortable. Comfy always -
that’s like my motto sometimes. No matter how I’m dressing,
whether I feel sexy that day or I want to just wear sweats, as
long as I’m comfortable I’m good. I have days where I want to
be eclectic and different, and there’s some days where I’m just
super subtle and I want to be in the background.
I have lived almost everywhere in the GTA - east, west,
Mississauga, downtown - and I think living downtown definitely
influences my style because I see so many cool people and I
want to dress like them. Being in the city, it’s just so different
compared to like being in Scarborough or Mississauga, the
suburbs in general. I studied fashion too, and I used to watch
a lot of fashion shows. I would try to imitate styles and take
inspiration from those shows.
Getting ready for work all depends on the weather and my
mood. I find that weather influences my style too because
if it’s cold outside literally all I want to do is wear hoodies. If
I’m going out, getting ready definitely takes a little more time
because you know you want to look good, and there’s a certain
look you want to achieve – even if it’s looking sexy or cool. So
it takes more time to figure that look out.
I would say both, I do dress for myself but also for others. It
comes with self confidence and depends on how you feel. You
want to feel good and look good, but it’s always nice to hear a
compliment as well like, “oh shit you look great”. It feels a lot
better getting a compliment from a girl because she knows
the fashion more. With guys , I think they just look to see sexy,
tight – that’s how I feel at least. I’m not a girl that like to wear
tight things, majority of the time.
I have this lace layering piece from Aritzia – that is a specific
piece that I really like, and I always love to bringing it into
my outfits. I really appreciate my sweats though haha. Like
seriously, I really do. No matter where I’m going, even if I’m
going out there’s days where I’ll wear my adidas trackpants
out because they’re comfy, but I still feel I look sporty chic in
them, and they get sexy when you throw a pair of heels on -
it’s very versatile.
Fashion is a necessity. It’s important because it shows how
I’m feeling. If I want to feel comfortable that day, I could just
throw on whatever I want. If I want to feel sexy I can wear
what I want. I think it also relates to self confidence; it makes
you feel good about yourself.
Some days comfort and feeling attractive are complete
opposites, and sometimes it’s relatable. It really depends on
how I’m feeling. I’m recently single so I’m looking for all these
pieces to help me stand out and be sexy and all these things,
but it is really out of my comfort zone. In society, at least I feel,
sexy is tight clothes, sheer, lace, and that’s not really my style.
Even the other day at work, a friend was grabbing a bunch
of things for me to try on, and she gave me all these tight
dresses, and I’m like “Can we drape something over this? This
is not me - like I don’t think this is sexy”. Even yesterday at
work, I was wearing a Wilfred striped robe with jeans, but I
didn’t wear anything underneath it and I had it tied up. TGhat
to me is sexy. There’s nothing under, but it’s still loose and I’m
still comfortable. Like I said, sometimes I feel like it relates
and sometimes they’re completely opposite. When I hear
attractive I think about other people’s opinions on me and then
I go into men and dressing sexy, so in that it’s different, I feel
they don’t go together.
Describing femininity is hard,I feel like there’s some days
others think I look more feminine, yesterday at work someone
saw me and was like “Oh Chan, you look like a girl today.” Like
thanks. And even when I wear tight jeans, people comment
saying they I didn’t even know I wore jeans People see it and
are like oh shit, you actually could dress like this… but it’s
because I’m so lax all the time. Some days though I do want
to feel a little more girly, I’ll go with a print, or something that’s
silky. I think also you should be comfortable in your own skin
and comfortable in your own clothing, no matter what people
think – that’s what I think femininity is. You should be able to
think, I’m going to throw this on today because I feel good in it.
I like that I don’t give a shit. Like at work I don’t put on makeup
and there’s been plenty of times where friends or even my
managers will ask why I come to work without makeup and I’m
like would you come with none? It’s because I’m comfortable
in my own skin for the most part.
