Hair Loss
You can begin tackling hair loss by
gathering more information about
this condition. Read this article for
basic tips and pointers on reducing
hair loss.
Finding information on hair loss
can help you start solving your
hair loss conundrum. Luckily,
various methods exist for anyone
worried about the loss of
their hair. This article has some of them.
8 | April 2018

1
CUT YOUR
HAIR SHORT
A great tip you can use
when dealing with hair loss
is to start cutting your hair
very short. There are many
attractive hairstyles that
really suit someone who
is losing their hair. You
should keep your hair short
and groomed at all times.
You just might discover that
a short hairstyle is a very
easy and good-looking way
to maintain your hair. Just
don’t cut your hair until it
has grown in more densely.
If you run to the stylist every
time your hair gets a little
long and frizzy, your hair will
become weaker over time.
If you are affected by yeast infections, then read on for some information about this itchy condition and how
you can get quick relief from it.
2
ADD MORE PROTEIN TO YOUR DIET
Protein is essential to keeping hair
loss to a minimum. Hair is made from protein.
To consume protein, eat meat, fish,
and eggs. You can try eating some beans or
nuts if you hate eating meat. Adding protein
to your diet can greatly reduce your
hair loss.
3
KEEP STRESS AT BAY
Avoid stress to help with hair loss. It
has been found that stress is a major contributor
to the loss of hair. It is possible
that your hair loss will continue if stress is
not managed correctly. You need to learn
how to handle stress.
4
HAVE SOME WHITE SESAME SEEDS
It is possible to slow down hair loss by consuming white sesame seeds. Every morning,
try eating as many of these seeds as you can fit into your hand. The seeds contain
healthy doses of magnesium and calcium. Calcium combined with magnesium is great
nourishment for your scalp and reduces hair loss.
5
DRY YOUR HAIR WITH CARE
You may need to change your routine
after you get out of the shower if you want
to limit the amount of hair you are losing.
When drying your hair, use the towel gently,
instead of roughly. You also should not
dry it with a hairdryer. If you feel that it is
necessary to use a hair dryer, you should
only use it when it is on low heat.
6
USING HAIR LOSS TREATMENTS
Reversing hair loss with hair treatments
is possible. However, it is important
that you thoroughly research all hair loss
products and treatments you use, so that
you know all of the ingredients. When you
do your homework, you may decide that
one individual choice is worthy of a few extra
dollars.
10 | April 2018

7
KEEP STRESS AT BAY
Lower your stress level. Stress can
contribute to hair loss, so if you can lower
your stress, you can possibly prevent
some hair loss. Stress also accelerates any
premature balding that you are genetically
inclined to, preventing treatments from
being successful.
8
VITAMIN B12 DEFICIENCY
Losing your hair could be the result
of a B12 vitamin deficiency. You can find
B12 in many sources. It can be in the form
of supplements, or you could eat more
meat, such as chicken and beef.
9
WIGS FOR HAIR LOSS
A wig can be a quick and easy solution
to hair loss. Even a high-quality wig
is lower in cost than most hair loss treatments
offered for extreme hair loss. You
can easily buy a wig. If you buy one that is
made of human hair, it can give you a more
natural look. Find a wig that complements
your skin tone.
HAIR LOSS CAN
HAPPEN TO ANYBODY
You are not alone. More than half of males
will begin to lose their hair in the latter
part of their twenties. In order to not lose
as much hair, testosterone plays an important
role. Testosterone produces a substance
called DHT which looks for hair and
destroys it.
HORMONES AND HAIR LOSS
A lot of women who experience
hair loss become surprised to find out that
their hormones are the cause of their hair
loss. Hormone imbalances very often lead
to hair loss. Even hormone replacement
can cause a temporary imbalance. Anyone
who has noticed thinning hair should take
a look at medications and therapies that
they are using to see if hormones could be
the cause.
MONITOR INTAKE OF SOY
Make sure you monitor the
amount of soy you are eating to reduce
hair loss. Soy can directly alter the thyroid
gland production. Any imbalance caused
by the thyroid could cause hair loss.
Researching hair loss is the best way to
begin tackling hair loss. It’s possible there
are remedies available that a person
concerned with hair loss may not even
know about. The tips in the article above
offer basic information that everyone
should know when dealing with hair loss.
If you are interested in finding more, they
are available out there.
HEALTH INSURANCE
13 TIPS ON
Follow Us:
by
Jim Maranto
THAT WILL PROTECT YOU
It’s important to understand the differences in health
insurance plans. Read on and learn how to find the plan
that’s right for you and your family.
Medical coverage has a variety of options and is sold by many different
organizations. Taking notes while researching can help you in your
search. Before making your final decision, do your homework. The advice
below will help you choose the best medical coverage.
16 | April 2018

1
CALCULATE THE COST
Before buying health insurance, take
time to calculate all of the potential costs involved.
Build up a thorough understanding
of the real costs presented by a particular
plan, making sure to factor in the trickier
factors like co-pays and flexible deductibles.
If you’re among the many people who suffer from allergies, then check out this guide for useful tips that will
help you cope with this condition.
2
CONSIDER GETTING VISION INSURANCE
If you need glasses, or if someone in your family does, vision insurance should
benefit you. This insurance will handle a certain percent of the cost of eye care-related
expenses, such as glasses and doctor visits. Vision insurance isn’t mandatory and therefore
may not be worth the cost for some individuals.
3
CATASTROPHIC VS
COMPREHENSIVE
COVERAGE
To save the most money possible
on health insurance
premiums, consider catastrophic
coverage instead of
a more comprehensive one.
Catastrophic coverage is for
emergency uses. On the other
hand, comprehensive coverage
is for prescriptions and
visits to the doctor.
4
REDUCE YOUR TAXES
Your health insurance
can help you reduce your taxes.
The premiums that you
pay for your health insurance
are tax deductible! The cost
of covering your deductible,
co-pays, and prescriptions
are also tax deductions. Because
state and federal tax
regulations vary for these deductions,
you’ll want to check
your state guidelines first.
18 | April 2018

5
READ YOUR POLICY THOROUGHLY
Anticipate that your insurance policy’s language will
have at least some loopholes in the coverage it provides.
It is essential to read your insurance policy thoroughly to
familiarize yourself with what is and what is not covered.
Keep some money set aside in case you have to pay outof-pocket
for a medical procedure or prescription.
6
DO NOT GIVE EXTRA INFORMATION
If you receive a telephone call from a health insurance
provider during the application process, do not volunteer
information. Give responses only to specific queries
they have made. If you give any extra information, it
will be recorded and can be used to raise the premium, or
can even be cause for denial.
7
SWITCH TO
GENERIC DRUGS
It doesn’t matter the type
of insurance coverage you
currently have. However,
you will save money if
you choose generic drugs.
Generics are available in
most cases and contain
the same ingredients as a
brand name.
8
CHECK INSURANCE
COVERAGE
It’s a good idea, before
choosing an insurance provider,
to call your physician,
clinics, and hospitals. Confirm
that you will be covered
completely if you use their
services. Looking for a list of
hospitals and doctors that
accept the insurance you
are considering is very easy.
9
PAY ATTENTION TO YOUR BILL
Even with health insurance, things such as prescriptions
might add surprises to your medical bills. Some
doctors only prescribe brand-name medication without
regard for the cost because they haven’t considered the
generic version. If you can use different pharmacies, do
some research to find out which one has the best prices.
Generic medicines are known to deviate in price at
different pharmacies.
April 2018 |
19

CHECK INSURANCE OPTIONS
There are lots of different options
available with different health insurance
plans. Look into all the options available
before you meet with an agent or broker.
Understand all your costs, and all
your benefits, before enrolling in a health
insurance plan.
CHECK DETAILS OF
YOUR CURRENT POLICY
When you are making the switch to another
insurance plan, be sure that you have
collected all the important information
about your current policy. Take note of deductibles,
the annual cost, co-pays and the
types of medical procedures and costs that
your old policy covers. Keep this with your
current policy documents as you search
for a new plan.
CONSIDER WORTH OF
YOUR INSURANCE
The total of healthcare costs is no longer
limited solely to your monthly premiums.
Most health insurance policies expect that
you will pay a set amount each time you
visit the doctor or hospital. Figure out if
the services offered are worth it after considering
the co-pay.
ASK IF YOUR PHYSICIAN
ACCEPTS BARTERING
There’s long tradition of bartering for
health care. Ask your physician if there
is anything you can barter for service.
She received her medical treatment,
and he received his website.
Although it may seem that the options for
health insurance are overwhelming, you
can find the one right for you. You need
to research if you want to find the perfect
insurance company with the perfect
policy that fits all of your needs. Remember
the tips you just read when making
your decision about which insurance plan
to purchase.
9 POINTERS FOR BOOKING
COSMETIC
Surgery
Follow Us:
by
Margaret Dunham
Avoid the possible dangers resulting from cosmetic surgery by reading these
pointers on what to consider before getting cosmetic surgery done on you.
Cosmetic surgery is becoming quite a commonplace. With just a few snips,
one’s appearance can be dramatically altered. It is important that you realize
cosmetic surgery has the same risks as any other type of surgery. One
mistake by the surgeon and you could be marred for life. To prevent this
nightmare situation, read on for information and tips on having a pleasant
cosmetic surgery experience.
1
CHECK THE SURGEON’S PORTFOLIO
Verify that your potential surgeon
has a strong list of past patients you can
verify results from. To see the outcome
you should expect, inspect the portfolio
carefully. Ask your doctor any questions
you have, and ask if he has letters from
satisfied clients. This way you can be sure
that he or she is the best doctor for you.
Ask to see before and after pictures of patients.
Ask your surgeon if there are any
examples of patients who have needed
additional corrective procedures and how
often this has occurred. If you are not impressed
by the results in the photos you
see, look for a different surgeon.
2
CONSIDER THE RISKS
OF THE SURGERY
When you receive anesthesia, there are
risks to be considered. For example, abnormal
heart rhythms can develop during surgery.
This irregular heart rate can be caused
by general anesthesia; it is often a result
of inefficient blood flow. Because of this,
irregular heartbeat, or arrhythmia occurs.
Find out what other risks are involved with
your procedure and ask if the doctor does
anything special to combat those risks. Do
some research on your own to make sure
your surgeon is honest with you. Consider
your surgery carefully once you know
more about the risks.
April 2018 |
25

3
RESEARCH FINANCING METHODS
Take the time to research alternative
methods of financing your surgery.
Most doctors understand that some people
are unable to pay ahead of time and
might offer a payment plan. If you cannot
arrange for prepayment with a doctor, you
can research other methods to pay for
the procedure.
4
CHECK ACCREDITATION OF CLINIC
Not only should you research your
specific surgeon, but you should also research
the hospital or clinic at which you’ll
have your procedure. Ensure that the proper
licensing and accreditation are in place
at the center. If the doctor has their own office,
the office needs to be registered, and
the doctor must have a license. To protect
your well-being, ensure that the surgery
center you will be using is fully accredited.
Also look into possible complaints against
them or any other negative history they
may have.
5
DISCUSS BLEEDING
WITH SURGEON
Be aware that some people lose a lot of
blood when having surgery. Bleeding is
common, but excessive bleeding is not
and can create complications. Loss of
blood can occur during and after the procedure.
If excessive bleeding happens after
the surgery, blood will be pooled under
the skin which could result in having additional
surgery to fix the issue. You should
discuss blood loss and bruising with your
physician prior to surgery.
26 | April 2018

6
BE WELL INFORMED
Educate yourself
about the cosmetic procedure
you want to get. By the
time that you have scheduled
your procedures, you
should already be well informed.
This will make it
easy to spot if your surgeon
is completely honest with
you about things.
7
CHECK ASPS
CERTIFICATION
Ensure you pick a surgeon
that is certified with the
ASPS if not, go to another
surgeon. Further, inquire
as to how often the doctor
has performed the procedure
you want, and verify
his answer.
8
BE EMOTIONALLY
STABLE
It’s important not to decide
on cosmetic surgery when
you’re overly emotional.
You need to be healthy
both in body and mind to
recover from surgery else
you could be faced with
complications afterward.
The slower your recovery,
the worse you may end up
feeling emotionally.
9
HAVE REALISTIC EXPECTATIONS
Approach cosmetic surgery realistically. Cosmetic surgery does have limits.
This is especially true if there are firmly rooted psychological issues related
to body perception. Altering your physical appearance may help, but it may
not be the ultimate cure. Find a professional to help you deal with your issues.
Cosmetic surgery is done all the time. An individual decides to alter the way their body or
face looks. However, a poor surgical decision spells danger, and it can destroy an individual’s
life. If you use the advice in this article, you can avoid some of the possible dangers
resulting from cosmetic surgery.
TIPS TO
HELP YOU
MANAGE
YOUR
HEMORRHOIDS
by
Jim Maranto
Follow Us:
Hemorrhoids are common, but how do you alleviate its symptoms? Follow the
tips listed here to learn how to relieve and prevent this painful condition.
There are dozens of easy and effective
hemorrhoid treatments
that are appropriate for use
in the home. For example, the
most popular options include
fiber supplements, topical products, medicated
pads, and warm sitz baths. Surgery
is rare and only used for very severe cases.
Follow the advice in this article to learn
how to relieve and prevent hemorrhoids.
1
ADD MORE FIBER
TO YOUR DIET
One of the best and most effective
solutions to get longterm
hemorrhoid relief is to
add more fiber to your diet on a
daily basis. Examples of fiber-rich foods
include pasta, oatmeal, whole grain bread,
and leafy green vegetables. Fiber will ease
your bowel movements and remove the
pressure put on your hemorrhoids.
2
KEEP AFFECTED AREA CLEAN
Keep your anus clean if you currently
suffer from hemorrhoids. Specially-designed
hemorrhoid wipes are usually
more sanitary than toilet paper, not to
mention more comfortable. Taking a sitz
bath can aid in relieving swelling and pain
caused by hemorrhoids. Try to soak for
around 20 minutes.
3
HAVE SOME RUTIN
Rutin can help you with your hemorrhoids.
When blood vessels become weak,
the result can be the development of
hemorrhoids. Rutin, a flavonoid essential
for Vitamin C absorption, aids in the
foods. For strong blood vessels, take
500mg as a supplement each day.
4
REDUCE SWELLING
WITH AN ICE PACK
Are you aware that there are
some common household products
that can help with hemorrhoids?
Something as simple as
an ice pack from your freezer
can provide you with ample relief.
Ice packs help reduce
hemorrhoid-related soreness.
When placed directly
on the affected
area, homemade ice
packs can also reduce
the swelling of
your hemorrhoids.
AVOID STRAINING
Hemorrhoids can be caused by
straining excessively during bowel movements.
Stools pass much easier if you
limit your refined foods and drink plenty
of water. Squatting is a great method
of having a bowel movement that
avoids straining. Use a small stool for
your feet while you go to the toilet.
The main cause of the majority of hemorrhoids
is an over-extension of the sphincter’s
muscles and those surrounding it. If
you suffer from recurring hemorrhoids,
you should watch how much you exert the
muscles in your anus during bathroom
time as well as other activities. Hemorrhoids
are less common in countries where
people squat instead of sitting.
6
SWITCH TO WHOLE GRAINS
Be sure to choose whole wheat bread and other whole grain products instead of
processed grains to improve digestion and elimination. Whole grains also reduce skin
irritation. Try making your sandwiches with wheat bread instead of white bread.
7
UNDERSTAND WHAT
HEMORRHOIDS ARE
To ease your concerns regarding hemorrhoids,
make sure you understand what
they are. Although this is not the most
pleasant topic, a little information goes a
long way in finding relief. Essentially, hemorrhoids
are caused by nerves and veins
that are strained, swollen and painful.
8
CONSIDER USING
NATURAL TREATMENTS
If you do not want to visit your doctor
and pay for a costly prescription medication,
then try using all-natural treatments
that can be administered in the comfort
of your own home. Spending a few
minutes in a lukewarm sitz bath, for instance,
can offer some relief from hemorrhoid
discomfort. Although hemorrhoids
can be extremely itchy, avoid scratching,
as this can exacerbate the problem.
Use witch hazel to moisten some cloth
and apply these to the affected areas for
short-term relief. Also, make sure that
your diet contains plenty of fiber, and that
you are drinking eight glasses of water everyday.
This helps to maintain soft, regular
bowel movements.
34 | April 2018

9
SKIP THE LAXATIVES
When dealing with hemorrhoids, do not become dependent on laxatives to ward
off constipation. Laxatives are designed with a single bowel movement in mind. If you
experience issues regularly, it’s best to make changes to your diet instead. Overusing
laxatives can make your stool harder.
April 2018 |
35

HAVE YOURSELF CHECKED
Even though it is likely hemorrhoids,
you should check with your doctor
to confirm this. Bloody stools or rectal
bleeding can also signify more serious
conditions, including cancer. It is best to
have it properly diagnosed so that you
can relax about it. Your doctor is the
best person to diagnose the problem
and recommend the proper treatment.
As the above article has mentioned, there
are lots of excellent treatments for managing
hemorrhoids. Unless your hemorrhoids
are so severe that your doctor has
suggested surgery, there are plenty of
ways you can treat them yourself. Use the
information above to add to your knowledge
of causes and treatments, so that you
can reduce your symptoms and avoid the
pain of this common condition.
1
GET YOUR HEART PUMPING
Try doing cardio to get rid of cellulite.
If you do cardio exercises on target areas
that have cellulite on them, you will start to
notice results in the future. Exercises that
target cellulite-prone areas include biking
and running.
2
SWITCH TO A HEALTHY DIET
Improving your diet can help eliminate
the appearance of cellulite. Eat
enough vegetables and fruits as they help
to make your skin look smoother. Juicing is
a great way to get the amount of fruits and
vegetables that you need as well.
3
HAVE SOME GREEN TEA
If you like to drink tea, you may want
to switch to the green kind to fight off cellulite.
Green tea is known for breaking down
fat pockets in your body; this also means
less cellulite. Green tea capsules are another
effective option.
4
KEEP YOURSELF
HYDRATED
Keep yourself hydrated and
eat foods with healthy oils.
Why is this crucial? Hydrated
skin makes cellulite less obvious.
With the right hydration,
your body “plumps” up
your skin so that those dimples
aren’t as easy to see. Being
hydrated is an effective
and easy way to fight cellulite.
When you have cellulite, it
helps to focus on making your
skin look good. When you take
vitamins and drink water regularly,
this can improve the
skin’s elasticity which can make
it appear smoother. Men have
thicker epidermises, which is
why cellulite doesn’t occur as
often with them.
5
STOP SMOKING IMMEDIATELY
Smoking will make cellulite worse
than it should be. Smoking adds toxins
to the bloodstream and toughens
the skin. These toxins exacerbate
cellulite substantially. Wrinkles and
other problems associated with aging
often follow. If quitting feels especially
difficult, speak with your doctor.
Don’t take up smoking.
Smoking interferes with
how well your body handles
toxins; this is known
to cause cellulite as it
limits skin elasticity.
If you are a smoker,
at the very least cut
your consumption.
42 | April 2018

8
MASSAGE YOUR SKIN
Do you want to rid yourself of cellulite
for good? Massage your skin to make the
bumps disappear. No matter if you go to a
spa or get your significant other to massage
you, the outcome will likely surprise you.
Massage the areas where you’ve got troublesome
cellulite. If you can spend a few minutes,
a couple of times each day massaging
the areas that have cellulite, you may see it
begin to decrease. Getting your circulation
going can make your skin thicker.
9
CONSIDER USING
CELLULITE LOTIONS
Several cellulite lotions and serums minimize
the appearance of dimpling. Check
the ingredients for caffeine, which is a
great cure for cellulite-ridden skin; sometimes,
products like this can show an improvement
in two weeks. Nivea is one company
that makes cellulite products.
6
KEEP STRESS AT BAY
You can reduce cellulite by reducing
your stress levels. If you’re very
stressed, cortisol becomes released.
This hormone is known to make the skin
thinner while increasing the fat in your
body. Meditation and yoga are both great
things to do if you’re dealing with stress.
Cut down on the stress in your life. Stress
negatively impacts the hormonal balance
within your body. It also translates into
higher levels of fat and cellulite. Getting
stress out of your life can make you trimmer
and skinnier too.
7
USE A BODY BRUSH
Body brushes will remove dead skin
cells. Other benefits include better circulation
and increased lymphatic flow. This
encourages skin cell draining, leading
to a reduction of the cellulite your body.
Long strokes twice daily will give you
the best results.
April 2018 |
43

REDUCE SODIUM INTAKE
When you struggle with cellulite,
you should consider giving up the table
salt. Abnormal levels of water retention
happen from salt intake, and cellulite accumulation
is often a result. Use either reduced
sodium salt or sea salt for best results.
Sea salt is a delicious salt alternative!
If you have cellulite, it doesn’t mean you
are fat. Women of all shapes and sizes
suffer from cellulite. It needn’t make
you feel unattractive; it’s just part of life.
Don’t let cellulite make you feel lazy and
unhealthy. A lot of women who are fit have
cellulite. It is a problem for many. These
tips have given you some inspiration as
to where to start the process of acquiring
smooth, beautiful skin.
the physical changes aging
things to slow the effects of aging.
1
TURN YOUR FROWN UPSIDE DOWN
To avoid some wrinkles, you shouldn’t
frown. Although the effects would seem
negligible, it can help a lot. Every time you
sense a frown coming on, pinch yourself.
Stick with it, and you can train yourself
away from wrinkle-inducing frowns.
2
DON’T MIND THE NUMBERS
One of the most important things
to remember with aging is to not focus on
any numbers. It is simple to be distracted
when you are focusing on the numbers involved
with your weight, height, and age.
You shouldn’t be focusing on the numbers;
let your doctor do that for you. Instead, you
should keep your focus on more fun things.
3
HAVE A HEALTHY SOCIAL LIFE
Having close relationships as you
age is important. Being an active community
member has been linked to increasing
your years and living healthier. When
thinking about your social relationships,
make sure that you surround yourself with
people who are positive and who are willing
to let you talk to them when you are
feeling down.
April 2018 |
49

4
DON’T FOCUS ON
THE STATISTICS
Focus on the quality of your
life and stop worrying about
statistics. A good doctor will
let you know when you need
to take action to improve
your health. The moment
you start focusing on these
three things is the moment
you will start obsessing
over them and missing out
on the fun parts of life that
are aimed at keeping you
feeling young.
5 PERSONALIZE
YOUR HOME
As you get older, you may
find that you are not living
in the place that you once
thought was going to be
home for the rest of your
days. When you move to a
new place, surround yourself
with things that feel
homey and cozy. Try personalizing
your home and
make it as comfortable for
you as possible.
6
ENJOY YOUR LIFE
Take the time to stop and smell the roses. Set goals for yourself so that when you
achieve them, you will feel prideful and happy. Take it easy and just enjoy every day of
your life.
50 | April 2018

7
SURROUND YOURSELF WITH POSITIVITY
Surround yourself with happy, cheerful people. Research has shown that
smiling and genuine laughter will decrease the appearance of wrinkles and will
keep you young-looking. Your social life should involve people who make you
happy, not those who bring you down.
8
EAT A HEALTHY DIET
Avoid fat and sugar while eating
plenty of fruits and veggies for
a balanced diet. Having a healthy
diet helps you maintain not just
your physical health, but your mental
health too. It also gives you the
necessary fuel you require to help
you through your day.
9
PICK UP AN OLD HOBBY
To keep a forward-looking attitude
in the face of retirement or
the “empty nest” syndrome, pick up
again on that hobby you loved years
ago. You now have enough time to
focus on yourself and do what you
have always wanted to. A hobby
such as painting, crafts, or a sport
can keep you outwardly focused.
MONITOR YOUR
BLOOD PRESSURE
You should check your blood pressure
on a regular basis. Elevated
blood pressure levels are a silent
killer because they often present
with no symptoms. Having high
blood pressure can cause damage
to various areas of your body and
these risks increase with age, so
be sure to have your blood pressure
watched closely. With regular
checkups, you can find any problems
with your blood pressure before
it becomes a severe problem.
TAKE THE RIGHT
SUPPLEMENTS
Talk to your physician to find the
right supplements to take as you
age. Ask about his recommendations
on anti-inflammatory medicines,
antioxidants, and daily vitamins
for you. With the right
balance of these supplements as
you age, your activity levels will
increase, and your downtime will
decrease accordingly.
52 | April 2018

ENJOY EVERY
MOMENT
Have fun! This is your
time to do and experience
what makes you happy. Fill
your days with the people
and things you love.
Use this advice to help stave
off aging problems, and
even prevent them from
occurring in the first place.
Staying healthy and happy
throughout the aging process
can benefit from the
groundwork laid at any age.
Just because you are getting
old doesn’t mean you
are out of the game.
FIND A NEW HOBBY
An effective way to deal with your depression is developing hobbies or outside interests.
When people are not busy and spend too much time dwelling on certain negative
thoughts, they often feel more depressed than those who engage in different activities.
Starting a fresh hobby, such as dance lessons, painting, or pottery making, can help alleviate
symptoms of depression. Whatever hobby might interest you, learning or interacting
with a new interest will surely help change your perspective.
2
CONSIDER USING LOCAL
HEALTH STORE TREATMENTS
There are some treatments for depression
you can pick up from your local
health store. Grape juice helps reduce
the toxins and free radicals in your body
that contribute to depression. Additionally,
St. Johns Wart can help your mental
health. This is also a much more economical
approach to depression than
conventional prescriptions.
3
FIND A SUPPORT GROUP
Avail yourself of support wherever you happen to find it. Other people, particularly
those who have staved off their depression, are particularly useful at offering advice as
you combat depression. There are many supports, services and treatment options that
may help.
Look at online groups dealing with depression. Online groups for depression can be
helpful because the anonymity can help you be more open and willing to share your biggest
fears. Many online groups exist specifically for depression, so there’s sure to be one
that fits your personality and preferences.
4
DECORATE YOUR HOUSE
Dealing with depression can be as
easy as making simple adjustments to
your surroundings. If you have a house of
your own, you should make sure the decorations
promote a positive frame of mind.
Bright surroundings cause you to feel
brighter as well.
5
IDENTIFY THE CAUSES OF YOUR DEPRESSION
With depression, there are many causes. Try to find the cause of your depression.
When you understand the causes that contribute to your feelings, you can handle the
rough moments better.
A good strategy to combat depression is to discover what your depression triggers are.
The underlying causes of depression must be understood to fight back. If you recognize
what triggers your depression, try to eliminate that trigger.
6
GET A PROPER DIAGNOSIS
Think about where you fit on the
scale of depression. A diagnosis of depression
can include cases from very
mild to very serious. Those that feel mildly
depressed can number in the millions.
You may just feel less interested in life than
you used to be, but more serious depression
will have a definite impact on your entire
life. Clinical depression is a severe illness
where you lose outside interests and
your behavior changes. Share your feelings
with your therapist or doctor.
7
UNDERSTAND YOUR DEPRESSION
Spend a little bit of time trying to
understand and analyze your depression.
Depression is, at its core, both
physical and psychological. If you’ve
been overly stressed and have been
having anxiety for a while, your brain
has probably reduced its serotonin level.
This makes you feel depressed.
Drugs typically prescribed for depression
work by increasing the amount of serotonin
in the brain. There are natural ways
to help increase your serotonin. Make
sure you keep yourself healthy by getting
enough rest, avoiding stimulants, and
maintaining a good diet.
60 | April 2018

8
TAKE BABY STEPS
Progressively move forward as you
notice changes. Going too fast could make
your depression worse. Remember that
slow, steady, incremental steps will gradually
help you process and adjust your feelings.
9
FOCUS ON POSITIVE THOUGHTS
Think about things that make
you happy. This is going to be a challenge
as your mind is going to want to
fall back on negative thinking. Try keeping
track of your thoughts and putting
your negativity into specific words. Often,
once released, the negative experiences
will continue to float away.
It’s never an easy battle when depression
is your enemy. One thing that will
help is to be thankful for what you have.
It is especially important to count your
blessings when you are experiencing
feelings of depression, even if you find
it difficult. Counting your blessings helps
to counter those negative thoughts.
There are many ways in which depression
affects people. It isn’t just the sufferer’s
problem. These tips are here to help you
take control over your depression and
change your life for the better.
QUIT SMOKING AND DRINKING
Do you smoke or drink alcoholic
beverages? Get rid of behaviors that are
not good for you as these substances can
harm your airways and cause sleep apnea.
Smoking can swell your airways while alcohol
can overly relax them. If you find that
you just can’t give these bad habits up, do
what you can to not do either of them within
four hours of your bedtime.
2
LOSE THE EXTRA POUNDS
Slim down if you’re heavy. According
to studies, obesity is linked to sleep apnea.
As a result, the loss of just twenty or
twenty-five pounds can make a significant
difference in reducing your symptoms of
sleep apnea.
3
USE A CUSTOM-FIT MOUTH GUARD
Try using a mouth guard that’s custom-fitted
for you; these are a great aid to
sufferers of sleep apnea. A mouth guard
will help keep your airway open and may
eliminate the need for a CPAP machine.
The soft tissues in your throat can collapse
when you sleep at night and wearing
a mouth guard can help to keep your
airway unobstructed.
66 | April 2018

4
USE YOUR CPAP MACHINE
If you suffer from sleep apnea and
are planning a trip, it is important to plan
on taking your CPAP machine with you.
You don’t want to sleep a single night without
your CPAP after a sleep apnea diagnosis.
You were probably provided a padded
traveling bag when you got your CPAP
machine. The bag should be used to secure
your CPAP during all of your travels.
Do not neglect your CPAP machine if it has
been prescribed to you. Some individuals
have a lot of trouble getting used to CPAP
masks in their sleep. A minimum of four
hours per night is needed if your CPAP
machine is going to help you. If you find
it hard to get used to your CPAP, use it for
only 4 hours at a go.
5
PEDIATRIC SLEEP APNEA
Sleep apnea afflicts children too.
There are a multitude of symptoms that
can determine whether your child has
sleep apnea. Often these symptoms are
similar to ADHD, but you need to talk to
a physician and consider sleep apnea as a
cause as well.
7
SLEEP ON YOUR SIDE
Often, sleep apnea sufferers rest
while on their backs. Your airways become
blocked when you sleep on your back, and
it’s easier to breathe when looking to the
side. If you have a hard time sleeping on
your back all night, you can try to prop pillows
around yourself to prevent you from
sleeping on your back.
April 2018 |
67

8
MONITOR YOUR SLEEPING HABITS
Try and get someone you know to
tell you how you sleep through the night.
One way to check out your sleeping habits
is to record a video of yourself. Make sure
you include the audio, so your doctor can
hear what sounds you make.
9
USE A REGULAR PILLOW
Sleep with just a single, average-sized
pillow each night. Using multiple or oversized
pillows makes it more likely that you
will end up in a position that encourages
sleep apnea. This may cause breathing
difficulty based on your position. You can
minimize the impact your sleep apnea has
by using just a single pillow in bed.
CONSIDER USING AN
ANTI-SNORING DEVICE
You should get a machine to stop snoring.
Excessive snoring occurs whenever your
airways are only partially opened where a
minimum amount of air can pass through.
On the other hand, sleep apnea occurs
whenever your airways are closed up completely
with no passing through. One device
can help with both. If you have mild
sleep apnea, an anti-snoring device may
be enough to help with your condition.
STRENGTHEN YOUR
THROAT MUSCLES
Getting your throat muscles stronger
is a great way to have less of a problem
with sleep apnea. Sleep apnea is a direct
result of a collapse of tissue that
occurs towards the far throat’s back.
The stronger your muscles are, the less
chance they will block your airways.
If you or your partner have excessive problems
getting restful sleep due to snoring or
breathing issues, then you need to consult
your doctor. People really shouldn’t have
to suffer without getting a proper diagnosis.
Feel free to share this helpful information
with others who have sleep apnea.
1
TAKE LACTOBACILLUS
ACIDOPHILUS
Lactobacillus acidophilus is great to use. It
is a live culture found in certain yogurts and
can slow the growth of yeast bacteria from
building up. When you are at the market
shopping for yogurt, be sure that you select
the kind that is sugar-free. Yeast infections
can feed on sugar within your body.
You can help to ward off yeast infections
if you use acidophilus tablets regularly.
The natural enzymes in acidophilus help to
keep your body’s natural bacteria in good
balance. Yeast infections occur when the
flora in your body is imbalanced.
2
AVOID SCENTED PRODUCTS
Avoid bath products that are scented.
Such products can contribute to yeast
infections, by fostering the growth of the
organisms that instigate the condition.
Also, avoid pads or tampons with scents
added to them.
Stay away from hygiene products that are
scented. The chemicals used in these products
will change the pH of your vagina, and
this can result in itchiness and dryness.
When this happens, a breeding ground is
established for yeast organisms to thrive
in. Get those that do not have a scent and
keep an eye out for discomfort or burning.
April 2018 |
3
INCLUDE GARLIC IN YOUR DIET
Try to eat more foods that are rich
in garlic and start eating some sugar-free
yogurts. Garlic can help halt the growth
of yeast. Look for garlic pills at your local
health food store or pharmacy; preferably
a deodorized version. Adding about two
cups of a healthy yogurt to your diet each
day can increase the healing.
4
APPLY APPLE CIDER VINEGAR
Using apple cider vinegar to treat a
yeast infection is a natural, old-fashioned
remedy. Mix the apple cider vinegar with
water and apply to the affected area. Since
apple cider vinegar is highly concentrated,
mix it with plenty of water for adequate dilution.
If you are beginning to itch like crazy,
you can get some relief by adding garlic
to this mix.
5
SWITCH TO COMFORTABLE JEANS
Skinny jeans are something you want
to steer clear of with a yeast infection.
These jeans do not give your crotch air,
which can be detrimental to your vaginal
health. If the area doesn’t get enough air,
then your chances of getting a yeast infection
skyrocket. Wear comfortable pants with
a lot of space to prevent yeast infections.
74 | April 2018

6
ORAL YEAST INFECTION
It’s possible to get a yeast infection
orally, though it’s not as likely as a
vaginal yeast infection. If you think you
see symptoms, consult with your physician
immediately. Use warm saltwater
to rinse your mouth and drink cool
liquids to help ease the symptoms.
7
PAY ATTENTION TO
YOUR LIFESTYLE
If you get frequent yeast infections,
you need to make some lifestyle changes.
Treating an infection or two is one
thing, but repeated infections may require
more intensive attention and
prevention. Changes in diet and wardrobe
are great ways to help reduce the
occurrence of infections.
8
USE CONTRACEPTIVES
WITH CAUTION
Some types of contraceptives are
known to contribute to yeast infections.
Some medications, including
birth control pills, contain estrogen at
high levels. This can disrupt the natural
balance in your vagina. Ask your
physician for advice.
9
USE PROPER ITCH PRODUCTS
Ensure you use products that
are gentle to relieve your itching. You
may want to try anything but don’t.
Try to maintain some common sense.
Get something that is known to soothe
the itching caused by yeast infections.
Don’t use itch creams that are intended
for other areas of the body.
April 2018 |
75

PINPOINT THE CAUSE
You must determine the underlying cause to
eliminate recurring yeast infections. Although it is not
always easy to discover an underlying cause, it can be
done by looking objectively at your lifestyle. Birth control,
sex, and panty selections can all be culprits leading
to yeast infections.
SWITCH TO A HEALTHY DIET
Changes in diet can improve yeast
infection symptoms. Sugars are shown to
promote yeast infections. Sugar-free yogurt,
on the other hand, can help rid you of one.
KEEP YOURSELF HYDRATED
It’s important to drink plenty
of water daily. This is a very important
step in getting rid of toxins from your
body. It clears out excess sugar, too.
Sugar feeds a yeast infection, so consuming
too much can cause one. If you
have a yeast infection, water is your best
friend, and this might help you recover.
Learning about prevention and treatment
is important. Your internal system is very
complex, and its reaction to certain things
is unpredictable. With any luck, this piece
has educated you about yeast infections
and ways to prevent and treat them.
ANSWERS TO YOUR QUESTIONS ON HOW
ACUPUNCTURE
WORKS
by
Jim Maranto
Follow Us:
Acupuncture involves a needle penetrating
the skin to relieve pain or
to help treat health conditions.
Read on to learn more about this
medical practice.
When you think about
acupuncture, do you
imagine people getting
stuck with many different
needles? Does it cause you
to tense up because you are afraid it is
painful? Well, these things aren’t true at all.
You will only experience pain relief from
acupuncture, not more pain. Continue
reading to learn more about the practice
and how it can benefit you.
1 ACUPUNCTURE
USES INCREDIBLY THIN PINS
There is no need to be afraid of acupuncture
because the pins that are used are
not usually painful. Acupuncture uses
thin pins instead of long needles, and
they are as light as one strand of hair.
Therefore, most people experience no
pain when it comes to acupuncture. You
might be expecting a ton of pain, but
you’ll be pleasantly surprised. You may
feel uncomfortable at times, but that is it.
Acupuncture may seem painful, but this
is just an illusion. The needles differ from
regular needles in a doctor’s office; they
are incredibly thin. From a foot or so away,
you would probably have a problem even
seeing the needles. There may be a little
discomfort, but most people find the treatments
to be very relaxing. You might feel
a small pinch at insertion, or you may not.
2
HAVE A LIGHT MEAL BEFORE YOUR SESSION
Avoid eating a lot before an acupuncture session. Your meal should be light so that
you don’t get dizzy or nauseous, and don’t eat a full meal either. Many people can’t lie
flat and comfortably following a full meal.
CHECK FOR LICENSE
3 AND INSURANCE
Check with your state’s health department
to ensure that your acupuncturist is
fully licensed and insured. This helps you
to be sure that the acupuncturist didn’t
just get a certification from somewhere
that isn’t certified. The Health Department
will only issue a license to someone
with an adequate amount of training, so
you can feel more secure about visiting
one of these professionals.
4
INFORM THEM ABOUT
YOUR MEDICATIONS
Talk to your acupuncturist about the
medications that you are under. This will
help them see how they can personalize
your session. This will also enable them
to fulfill your special needs.
5
CLEAR INSURANCE COVERAGE
Make sure that your insurance is cleared up before you engage in a session. Many
alternative treatments, including acupuncture, are now covered by health insurance. This
will help you save a lot of money during your treatments. By not doing this, you must pay
for the entire fees of the treatment. These fees can become expensive over time.
Verify whether your acupuncture practitioner accepts your insurance and if your policy
covers such treatments. If you figure out insurance information and billing to start with,
you can just focus on the befits of your appointments. By avoiding worrying, you can focus
on your treatment.
82 | April 2018

6
GET A CONSULTATION BEFORE YOUR TREATMENT
Get a consultation before getting any treatment done. Expect a consultation with
the acupuncturist before your treatment begins. Be sure to communicate clearly and
openly with the acupuncturist. You also want to tell your acupuncturist how your condition
is affecting your daily life. Any information you can offer helps them make the best
treatment decisions.
7
WEAR LOOSE,
COMFORTABLE CLOTHES
Try to wear loose-fitting clothing for
your appointment. Wearing loose fitting
clothes will make the session go easier
for you and the practitioner. It’ll give
your practitioner easier access for needle
placement. Some sessions are done
with people in a group, so that means
that people have to wear clothes, so
nobody gets offended.
8
AVOID INTENSE WORKOUT
BEFORE THE SESSION
If you enjoy working out, it is best to
scale things back when you have a session.
A bit of exercise is fine, but take it
much easier than you generally would.
Try a less intense version of your typical
workout activity. An acupuncture
treatment day is not the right time to
do anything new.
9
LOOK FOR
ACUPUNCTURISTS
ONLINE
When looking for an acupuncturist,
check online.
Just do a Google search for
your local region. There are
also websites you can go to
to find an acupuncturist.
The licensing agency for an
acupuncturist in the United
States is the NCCAOM.
As this article has shown
you, acupuncture isn’t painful.
It stops pain instead.
Now you should be able to
erase the troubling images
in your head. Get past the
fears and use this information
to get more from acupuncture
and relieve your
body pain today.
1
AVOID PICKING AND TOUCHING
If you do happen to get a pimple, don’t pick at
it. Picking at spots can cause the bacteria to spread,
leading to more blemishes. If you were to repeatedly
pick at your skin in the same spot, it could cause the
skin to break open and scar the spot once it heals.
In your fight to rid yourself of acne, avoid touching affected
areas. It is easy for oil and dirt to be spread around the skin
by your fingers, and this can lead to further acne inflammation.
Touching your face without realizing it can transfer
germs. This needs to be prevented. Just rubbing your nose,
resting your chin on your hand, or sweeping hair off your
face can all make acne worse.
2
LIMIT YOUR DAIRY AND MEAT INTAKE
Try to limit your intake of dairy and meat products to prevent further acne outbreaks.
Meat and dairy products are full of hormones that will negatively impact your
skin. It’s a good idea to cut down or eliminate these products from your diet.
3
SWITCH TO WATER-BASED MAKEUP
To take care of your acne, try not wearing makeup for a while if you normally wear
makeup or switch to water-based makeup. Covering up acne with makeup is tempting,
but it can clog your pores and make your condition worse. Taking a vacation from it
might just help to clear up your complexion.
April 2018 |
4
REDUCE REDNESS USING CHAMOMILE
Chamomile is very efficient against acne. Your cooled tea bag can be used to reduce
redness and decrease swelling. Just put it on the affected area and keep it there
for about ten minutes.
5
KEEP STRESS AT BAY
Research shows that stress and
breakouts are directly linked. Stay away
from situations that will stress you out.
Stress can’t cause acne, but it can increase
the severity of the problem in people
who already suffer from the condition.
As you may already know, one of the biggest
causes of acne is stress. This statement
is quite true, but rest assured that
there are ways you can reduce the amount
of stress you have in your life. On top of
keeping you healthy, yoga and exercise
can help relieve some of your stresses.
6
HAVE SOME GARLIC
Garlic is full of antioxidants that can help clear acne and keep your skin clean. Garlic
gets rid of harmful toxins, making new skin develop healthily. Add garlic to all your favorite
recipes, or take a garlic supplement to get the full benefits of this skin-friendly food.
90 | April 2018

7
USE PRODUCTS
WITH SALICYLIC ACID
Have you heard of salicylic acid? This compound,
used in various skin care products,
is one of the best treatments for acne.
When used with beneficial beta hydroxyl
acids, the skin cells shed quicker.
8
SWITCH TO NATURAL PRODUCTS
If you have acne, it is recommended
that you only use natural cosmetics on
your skin. Harsh chemicals in some products
can cause skin irritations. These products
can also remove essential oils your
skin needs to be healthy. When this happens,
your skin tends to react to it by creating
even more oil which in turn makes
your acne outbreak even worse.
9
CHANGE BEDDINGS AND
TOWELS REGULARLY
When trying to prevent or cure acne, make
sure you frequently change and wash towels,
washcloths, pillowcases, and sheets.
Pillowcases, sheets, and washcloths often
collect bacteria which can cause acne.
Wearing clothing too long between washes
can also allow bacteria to grow, so stick to
a regular laundry routine.
April 2018 |
91

APPLY ACNE CREAM
TO ENTIRE FACE
Apply any acne creams to your entire face,
not just where there are active blemishes.
Otherwise, you may get breakouts in the
untreated areas. You need to apply the
medication to your forehead, too.
START A CLEANSING REGIMEN
To control and keep acne away
from your face, participate in a facial
cleaning regimen. Clean, clear skin requires
daily commitment. Using a cleanser
that is made for your skin, clean your
face both morning and night. If you
wash too frequently, your glands may
produce more oil. Keeping your face
clean is the best defense against acne.
Treating acne starts with learning the
correct skin care information. With the
correct information, your acne condition
need not feel so overwhelming. Try the
above tips to get the clear, radiant skin
you’ve always wanted!
GET A PROFESSIONAL MASSAGE
A professional massage makes a
great way to manage and purge your
stress. Tense muscles are a sign of stress
carried in the body. A great massage can
not only help you relax, but it also leaves
you feeling less stressed.
2
LISTEN TO SOOTHING MUSIC
You can use music to help relieve
stress as music can have a significant impact
on you. Research has shown that just
listening music can be relaxing. Everyone
has different tastes in music, so take the
time to find out what kind of music helps
you to lower your stress levels and relax.
Music is known to reduce stress levels.
Music has been shown to be very soothing
if you listen to slow and soothing
tunes. Remember that what may work
for some, may not work for you. You may
need to experiment with different genres
to find something that suits your preferences
and needs. Listening to music you
like will cause your brain to release serotonin,
which will make you feel calm
and happier.
3
STAY AWAY FROM
DRUGS AND ALCOHOL
Drugs and alcohol have been commonly
used for centuries by people to try combat
stressful situations. You can say this is
how they temporarily deal with the stressful
situations occurring in their daily life.
Of course, drugs and alcohol will not do
anything to help the way you feel. Instead,
they may very well create complications
that contribute to increasing the stress in
your life.
4
AVOID EXCESSIVE VIDEO GAMES
Some hobbies and interests, such as
video or word games, can provide a relaxing
outlet for stress. However, if they begin
to cause you frustration, you should
try something else. Remember, the idea is
to help clear your mind and allow you to
feel more calm, not to replace the feelings
of stress with equally strong frustration.
Stress can come from some unlikely places.
For example, a few video games can
be fun and relaxing. Hours of video games
can be distracting from daily life. If you are
addicted to video games, you will neglect
your real life, and this will surely cause
stress. You may miss sleep or not take the
time to eat something healthy.
98 | April 2018

5
START A GARDEN
Getting involved with gardening is a tremendous way to deal with stress. Gardening
is a popular hobby that doubles as an outstanding stress reliever. If you live in a
house, build a small garden in your backyard or another area around your home.
6
SPEND QUALITY TIME
WITH YOUR LOVED ONE
If you have a significant other, spend time
with them. Go out to a romantic dinner by
candlelight. This will make you focus on
the person you love instead of focusing on
things that happened during the past and
may happen during the future.
7
DAYDREAM YOUR WAY
TO RELAXATION
A great escape from stress can be just to lie
back and do some daydreaming. Use these
moments to imagine yourself in another
place and time. Daydreaming is a great
technique for providing the brain with a
relaxing alternative to whatever thoughts
are causing stress.
8
HIRE A TUTOR
If you are having trouble with a particular subject at school, hire a tutor. Tutors will
help to prepare you in advance, reducing stress and procrastination over time. Preparing
ahead of time is one of the best things you can do to alleviate anxiety over classwork.
9
DO RANDOM ACTS OF KINDNESS
One way to relieve stress after a grueling
day is to do an act of kindness for someone.
Perhaps you can plan to spend time
with your child doing an activity they enjoy
or plan on surprising a loved one with a bouquet
of flowers. This will help you focus on
something else and remember that you are
loved and have a good reason to work hard.
As was mentioned in the above article, living
with too much stress could have serious
effects on all aspects of your life. It is
crucial for your well being to do whatever
is necessary to control the stress in your
life. These tips should help prepare you to
cut down on the stress you’re experiencing,
and ultimately make your life better.
Living a less stressful life is not as impossible
as you think it is. By thinking through the
situations you find most stressful, you will
have the ability to determine what sparks
the most anxiety. From there, you can
start eliminating those stress triggers from
your life.
HYDRATE AFTER
GETTING A MASSAGE
Drink water after receiving a massage.
water will flush your body and help
eliminate any side effects. In the hour
following the massage, drink several
a positive response, work on it a bit
more. Feedback is something that you
should always keep your eye out for.
Analyze how your partner is reacting to
the massage as you do it. You have to
observe the way their muscles tense up
and any facial expressions. With practice,
your hands will have the ability to
read the signals their body is giving you.
When the body has tensed up, you’ve
pushed too hard.
3
BE ON TIME
Be prompt to your
massage appointment so
that you do not miss it.
With your busy life, it’s simple
to forget what time it is.
Rushing to a massage will
leave you tense. Your goal
is to be relaxed when you
hit the table.
4 MASSAGE
FOR ARTHRITIS
People living with arthritis
can feel a lot of pain.
Medication can help, but
it can’t always block that
deep-seated pain in the
bones. A massage may be
able to aid this affliction as
it helps the blood to flow
more easily, along with
helping flexibility and circulation;
this will help ease
the pain.
5
TRY NEW MASSAGE
TECHNIQUES ON YOURSELF
Begin by massaging your peripheral appendages.
Begin with your legs, then your
arms and work from the bottom towards
the top. When you do this in the morning,
you’ll invigorate your body. Doing it before
bed can calm stress and the body for better
slumber.
6
APPLY DIFFERENT
PRESSURE LEVELS
Different levels of pressure that you apply
during a massage have different purposes.
If there are many knots in the muscles, apply
pressure on them and move in circular
motions. Don’t overdo it though. Deep tissue
massage adheres to these tenants.
7
DO NOT GET UP ABRUPTLY
You must make sure you slowly get
up after getting a massage. You have spent
quite a bit of time laying there and relaxing
while getting your massage. You are likely
to feel lightheaded when you first stand
up, so move with care at first to make sure
you have your balance.
8
BOOST YOUR IMMUNE SYSTEM
If you find that you are constantly
coming down with whatever is going
around, do not fret. Studies have shown
that massage can actually increase the
production of your body’s white blood
cells. They are a key point of your immune
system to help you fight illness.
9
ADJUST THE SPEED
As the massage progresses, increase
your speed. At first, you should go slowly
to allow the recipient to become acquainted
with your touch so their muscles can
begin to be less taut. Then you can later
move faster with your hands and apply
more pressure.
MASSAGE FOR
MIGRAINE HEADACHES
and can make the whole world
stop for you when they attack.
As a person who suffers from
migraines, you are well aware of
their debilitating effect. Fortunately,
massage has been shown
to lessen migraine pain and even
diminish their duration.
COMMUNICATE WITH
YOUR THERAPIST
If you are going for a massage session, it
is important to have open communication
with the therapist. Let the therapist know
about problem areas or injuries so that the
therapist can stay away from them or focus
on them. If something hurts, tell them
right away. It is supposed to be relaxing,
after all.
WARM OIL BEFORE USE
Prior to applying massage oil to the
back, warm it in your hands. Remember that
a massage is supposed to be relaxing, and
cold oil poured on the back is the antithesis
of this. The oil needs to be placed on the
hands and then the hands should be rubbed
together. Friction will heat up the oil quickly.
You don’t want to have to spend too much
money on a good massage. You can save
your money but still get a quality massage.
The amount of money that this article has
saved you can be applied to a massage for
your spouse.
A 10-PART GUIDE ON HOW TO
RELIEVE
ALLERGIES
guide for useful tips that will help you cope with this condition.
Life can be difficult enough, so allergies do not have to be an additional
source of problems. If you’re among the many people who are experiencing
its symptoms, the following guide should help. For useful tips that will help
you live with allergies, read on.
AVOID CARPETS AND RUGS
If there is a choice in the matter,
avoid having carpeting or large area rugs in
your home. Eliminating 100% of allergens
from carpets and rugs is next to impossible,
which means mites, pollen, and other
particulates will be waiting for you with
every step you take. If you or someone in
your family has allergies, you will be better
served by a flooring that is easy to clean:
tile, wood, and linoleum are ideal for use.
Try to limit how many rugs and carpets
you have throughout your home. Pollen
and dust love to accumulate in rugs and
carpets. If want to have some rugs around
to add softness to your decor, make sure
that they are washable and take the time
to wash them regularly to help remove
the allergens.
2
WASH BEFORE
GOING TO SLEEP
Before retiring, shower and
shampoo your hair. During
the daytime, your skin and
hair may become covered
with dust, pollen or spores,
which makes you more likely
to experience allergic symptoms
during the night. Even if
you only spend a few minutes
in the shower, you will be doing
yourself a great favor.
3
GET RID OF DUST MITES
It is impossible to avoid dust
mites. As you can probably guess,
these little guys are living throughout
your bedding and pillows, making
a meal of your dead skin flakes. To
combat these nuisances, encase mattresses
and pillows in special zippered
mattress covers and pillow cases. You
also need to wash your bedding in some
hot water every week as that kills them.
4
WATCH OUT FOR
OUTDOOR POLLEN
Exercising outside can expose you to a lot
of pollen, so pick the right times to exercise.
Try going out in either the dawn or dusk
hours. Research indicates that these are
the best times, in regards to pollen count.
Make sure you keep a close eye on the
clock. Normally pollen comes out the most
from five to ten o’clock in the morning; do
not go outdoors at this time. If you absolutely
have to go out, keep the time and
limit your activity.
5
TAKE SOME ANTIHISTAMINE
You may have tried several different
allergy remedies, and assumed incorrectly
that there is no hope. There are other
allergy medications available, other than
oral medications. Just stop in at your local
mega-mart and you’ll find a wide range
of treatments like nasal sprays, Benadryl,
different cough and eye drops, and other
meds that are designed to treat all sorts
of allergies.
6
DEAL WITH THE SYMPTOMS
If you keep experiencing the same allergy symptoms, it may be easier to deal with
the symptoms rather than avoiding the allergic reaction. Ways to accomplish this are to
carry drops if your eyes are always dry, or wear a nose strip to bed every night if evening
congestion is a problem. The same goes for people who have a scratchy throat.
7
TAKE YOUR MEDICINES WHEN YOU TRAVEL
Don’t forget your medication when you go on vacation. It is quite possible that you
will encounter unexpected types of allergens along the way. Depending on what you’re
allergic to, the types of medications you bring may differ. Some Benadryl is okay for minor
reactions, but having an Epi-pen may be required for more severe allergies. An Epipen
is a dose of epinephrine that can immediately cease any allergy attacks.
8
AVOID USING HAIR
STYLING PRODUCTS
When in peak allergy season, style your
hair without the help of creams, mousse or
sprays. These products will create tar-pitlike
trap, easily capturing allergens. Unfortunately,
hair products are notorious for
catching and storing unwanted allergens.
9
TAKE ALLERGY
MEDICATIONS AS DIRECTED
If you are on medication for your allergies,
be sure to take it as directed. Most medications
require days of constant use for
them to work. You shouldn’t expect instant
allergy relief. Make sure to speak with your
physician about the proper dosage for you.
AVOID OPENING WINDOWS
Avoid opening your windows
during peak pollen hours. It’s always nice
to get some fresh air into your home,
but any beneficial effects of the fresh air
may be countered by the increased pollen
if you open your window during peak
pollen hours. Peak times for pollen are
between the hours of 10 AM and 3 PM.
You can let in the breeze after this time.
Hopefully, this article has provided you
with ideas to tackle your allergy problems
and win! With so much to do in life, why
should you deal with allergies too? Get a
handle on your allergy symptoms and take
hold of your life!
STICK TO A HEALTHY DIET
You often do your best to eat healthy,
but your budget simply do not allow for it.
Consuming vitamins and minerals that are
healthy will make you feel a lot better. If at
all possible, it is best to ingest minerals and
vitamins in their natural form by enjoying a
well-balanced diet. It is recommended that
you eat at least five servings of vegetables
and fruit daily. If you cannot do this, nutrient
supplements are an option.
2
TAKE FAT-SOLUBLE
VITAMINS WITH FOOD
If you take a supplement that contains
fat, they are taken with food. Take them
at mealtimes. Vitamins E, A, and K are
some vitamins that will not absorb properly
without being taken with food. These
fat-soluble vitamins need food to be
properly absorbed.
3
GET ENOUGH VITAMIN B2
You can find riboflavin and vitamin
B2 in green beans, asparagus, bananas,
green beans, and dairy products. A deficiency
will reduce the quality of your skin
texture. Also, vitamin B2 can help ward off
cancer, anemia, cataracts and even carpal
tunnel syndrome.
4
PRENATAL VITAMINS AND MENO-
PAUSE
When you have gone through menopause,
don’t take prenatal vitamins. Some women
think it’s a good idea to take them to grow
their nails and hair. Prenatal vitamins have
too much iron for those who are past their
menopause and this can be dangerous for
them to take.
5
BOOST VITAMIN C INTAKE
Vitamin C is in many citrus fruits and
other vegetables and fruits. Supplements
are perfect for those who do not receive
the recommended daily allowance in their
food. This potent vitamin helps prevent
and treat colds, gum disease, acne, stomach
ulcers, and skin infections. Recent
studies have suggested that vitamin C has
a positive effect on individuals that have
ADHA, Alzheimer’s disease, and dementia.
6
CAN ADULTS TAKE
CHILDREN’S VITAMINS?
If you choose to use children’s gummies,
take more than one. Adults’ vitamin needs
are higher than children’s so one is generally
not enough. Just don’t take too many
since that is not good, either.
7
RESEARCH BEFORE
TAKING ANY SUPPLEMENT
Question everything you hear about supplements.
Some of the advertisements are
geared just to help the bottom line of the
company that is selling the product. Question
all material you review regarding your
health. If you have any doubts at all, talk to
your doctor before taking any supplement.
122 | April 2018

8
LOAD UP ON MANGANESE
Manganese is a nutrient that you should consider. Manganese provides many functions,
but the primary ones include the formation of bones and the speedy healing of
wounds. It is also used to speed up how the body metabolizes proteins and carbohydrates.
This can be found in whole grains, almonds, and black and green teas. You can
also find manganese supplements online or in vitamin stores.
9
TAKE SUPPLEMENTS
WITH CAUTION
You should exert caution if
you are taking supplements.
With vitamins and minerals,
you can overdose. This occurs
when too many are taken,
which is dangerous. The results
of taking too many nutrients
vary depending on the
type of vitamin or mineral,
but an excess of some nutrients
can be life-threatening.
Be aware that many prescription
and over the counter
medications can interact
negatively with vitamin and
mineral supplements. They
can even threaten your life.
Tell your doctor about supplements
you take. Ask your
pharmacist if you have any
concerns about an over-thecounter
medication.
HAVE YOUR B12 LEVELS
CHECKED
The older you get, the harder it is to absorb
vitamin B12. If you take a lot of it but cannot
absorb anything, there is no point. It is
key to be tested once a year by your doctor
to ensure your B12 levels are adequate,
and if they’re not, consider getting shots.
Adding minerals and vitamins to your diet is
one way to become healthier. Vitamins will
improve your health and diet. It will also increase
your mood and reduce your visits to
your doctor. Regardless of your current condition,
you can feel better tomorrow. Now
it is up to you to make good use of the vitamins
and minerals that are available to you.
