We all know that school prepares children for the
world – but what prepares children for school? Preschool,
of course! “If you want your child to be prepared for
kindergarten, be sure to send them to preschool,” said Katie
Seifert, Center Director at Red Rover Children’s Learning
Center. “Typically, kids start preschool between ages 3 to 5.”
Red Rover Children’s Learning Center, a
developmental child care organization, is located at 3445
Spring Street, Davenport, IA. The Center provides care for
children ages six weeks to six years old.
At Red Rover, kids learn a variety of topics in
preschool, including knowledge of colors and shapes,
and how to count by ones, fives, tens and twenties. Those
basics are only the tip of the iceberg. The Center’s hands-on
approach is centered around age-appropriate developmental
experiences. The home-like surroundings provide a
stimulating environment that encourages play, learning, and
exploration.
Red Rover offers Handwriting Without Tears®, a
program in which kids learn that letters are made from long
lines, short lines, big curves and little curves. “It’s a cool
program and the kids get pretty excited about it,” Katie said.
While academic matters are highly important, social
skills are also part of the Red Rover experience. “We help
kids to learn to share, and to help each other,” Katie said.
“We give them a sense of ‘yours, mine, and ours’ when it
come to sharing. Also, they learn more about life just by
being around other kids and the staff members. They get to
see what life is like outside of their own households.”

things – they just might have to do them differently,” Katie
said. “We help kids to realize that all people are different,

to leave it at the door,” she said. “When they’re with the
children, they concentrate on making each day a positive,
enjoyable educational experience.”
