Team Captain Race Pack - Bloomberg Square Mile Relay New York

This year, we are proud to introduce The Extra
Mile: a chance to make an impact way beyond
the finish line and contribute to philanthropy
in a bigger, better way.
The Extra Mile is a community-led initiative
by Bloomberg Square Mile Relay, which
addresses a unique social challenge in each
city where the race is run. The Extra Mile gives
runners and spectators alike the opportunity to
make a meaningful and actionable difference
in their communities, all through using the
power of sport.
In New York, The Extra Mile teamed up with the
9/11 Memorial & Museum to harness the power
of sport to engage local youth through a series
of opportunities truly unique to the city.
Ahead of Race Night, race participants and
Bloomberg employees had the opportunity
to join an interactive session at Community
Day during the sixth annual “9/11 Memorial
& Museum 5K”. Volunteers helped kids and
their families to learn and build relationships
with local police and fire departments through
taking part in sporting activities.
It doesn’t end there, though. Further
volunteer and engagement activities for the
Relay community will be available over the
year. Opportunities to interact with youth
from different backgrounds, ethnicities and
races all benefitting from sport and social
programs across the city will be available
through special events with the 9/11 Memorial
