Annual Black tie dinner
Thursday 19 th April - Drinks reception
starts at 7pm Hilton Ballroom Suite.
This years theme for our Gala Awards Dinner is ‘Masquerade
Ball’. So whilst our dress code is Black Tie, be as flamboyant as
you wish! We’re looking forward to seeing dramatic masks
– the more over the top the better! The evening starts with Pre
dinner drinks and entertainment from the Newcastle Military
Wives Choir. We have a number of other surprises up our
sleeves for you to enjoy as the evening unfolds…
The PPMA are very please to have Alistar Williams as the host of our Gala Awards.
Alistair has returned to Guardian Jobs as Director of sales and marketing after spending time heading up
the Guardian's marketing for the hugely successful rebrand and relaunch as a tabloid - only the third time
the Guardian has changed size in almost 200 years.
Originally a journalist, and having spent time working in some of the UK's largest advertising and employer
branding agencies, Alistair joined the Guardian nine years ago, spending a number of years heading up the
Guardian's public services commercial teams, developing the Guardians commercial content and
partnership's business and forging relationships with organisations such as the PPMA.
A school governor, FA qualified football coach and cyclist, he's also a Stoke City supporter, and will
probably not want any mention of football.
As always our Annual Gala Dinner provides a great opportunity to raise money for charity. This year PPMA
Policy Board is focusing on two worthy bodies.
Karma Nirvana, which is an award-winning British human rights charity supporting victims of honourbased
abuse and forced marriage. It was founded in 1993 by the survivor, activist and author, Jasvinder
Sanghera CBE who escaped a forced marriage by running away from home at age 16 years old. Jasvinder is
our key note speaker on Day 1 of Conference.
Queens Court Hospice enables people to be cared for in their preferred place of care whilst being able to
access the services required during the later stages of their life. Enabling a good death is thankfully gaining
much more attention and focus.
