Dear Valued Customer, 

E&S Wood Creations has been crafting 

quality furniture in rural Indiana since 

1987. At first, custom kitchens and 

custom furniture were our main focus. 

In the late 1990s as the whole sale 

market became a factor we adapted 

accordingly; adding bedroom furniture, 

office and living room furnishings since. Most pieces are available in Oak, Cherry, 

Rustic Cherry, Brown Maple, Hard Maple, Rustic Quartersawn White Oak, 

Hickory, Rustic Hickory, Walnut, or Grey Elm. Other species are also available 

upon request. 

Today, 30 years later, with our production facility having grown from 3,000 sq. 

ft. to 12,000 sq. ft., our commitment to quality is STILL our goal; selecting 

good grade wood, quality hardware, carefully fitted parts and hands-on attention 

though tools & equipment is more modern. 

We are the makers of a furniture that is worth the wait and likely to be passed 

along to heirs for generations to come.

The Nature 

of Wood 

Much of the beauty of wood comes from its 

variation in color and grain, characteristics 

that make each piece of solid wood furniture 

unique. Even with the same building methods 

and finishing processes, no two pieces will 

be exactly the same. Most hardwoods are 

open grained, causing solid wood furniture, 

even with protective finishes, to expand 

and contract with changes in temperature 

and humidity. This can cause minor cracking 

and surface checks which are not considered 

flaws, but rather nature’s "beauty marks." 

To minimize these effects, indoor humidity 

should be kept in the 35-40% range. Solid 

wood furniture should also be kept away 

from direct sources of heating and cooling, 

direct sunlight, and fluorescent lighting and 

should not be stored in attics or basements. 

When cared for properly your E&S furniture 

will become a piece of timeless beauty that 

will be treasured for generations.

Use an old T-shirt or cheesecloth that has 

been laundered to remove the sizing. 

DUST OFTEN to remove everyday 

abrasive particles from wood surfaces. 

CONSIDER CLEANING with a mild nonalkaline 

soap and water. Use the suds in 

a damp sponge or cloth, but be sure to 

pre-test the solution on an out-of-sight 

section to make sure it doesn’t damage 

the finish. Dry immediately with a soft 

cloth and buff lightly, following the 

grain. 

DON’T WAX or use any polish that 

contains any silicones! Catalyzed heat 

and moisture resistant finishes don’t 

need additional polish, but if you want to 

use a polish we recommend Guardsman 

Furniture Polish.

Real or Imitation? 

Not sure if you’re buying solid hardwood or a chip imitation? A 

check point is the glue joints. Put your finger on a glue joint and 

trace it along the top of the surface, over the edge, and to the 

underside. If the line disappears its probably an imitation. Solid 

hardwood joints on the other hand can be traced across the top, 

the side and the underside.
