ABOUT
My name is Simone Biggs. After four years of study, I obtained
a national Diploma in Interior Design at the Cape Peninsula
University of Technology, in 2012. My first year consisted of
the foundation course which included all seven disciplines of
design. It was during this period that I became convinced that
I should follow my passion to Create, Design and Invent.
During my final year of study I won two design awards. A
monetary prize for achieving 3rd place in a National competition
hosted by FRANKE and a group prize for a retail design project.
In 2014, I was selected from hundreds of young South Africans
to participate at the Design Indaba – World Design Capital held
in Cape Town. Here I showcased my very own furniture product;
EDU chair.
A few months had past and I started working for a corporate
interior design company where completed four private hospitals
around the Western Cape.
In addition, I played a key role in the design and implementation
of the American Corner at the Central Library in Cape Town. We
worked closely with US Embassy as it was funded by the US
Government.
In recent years I found myself working in the UAE for a short
time. The experience was invaluable. Upon my return, I joined the
Harbour House Group focusing on commercial and hospitality
design. To date I am thoroughly enjoying the demanding, fast
paced hospitality industry.
The love for food and creating spaces in which food can be
enjoyed, influenced my decision to complete a diploma in
photography, with the intention to compliment my passion for
Interior Design with Food and Interior photography.
