Faculty Senate, MAF Representative Facilities Committee (Chair), Office Space<br />

Committee, Faculty Search Committees, etc.<br />

Institutional Animal Care and Use Committee (IACUC) Committee Member (Appointed<br />

in March 2006)<br />

Member of the National Marine Aquaculture Task Force (a PEW/WHOI National<br />

Committee) and Florida Aquaculture Task Force (a State of Florida Dept. of Agriculture<br />

Committee).<br />

Hosted two national meetings at RSMAS: NOAA Code of Conduct for Sustainable<br />

Aquaculture in 2004 and COMPASS/SeaWeb Architects for Sustainable Offshore<br />

Aquaculture in 2005.<br />

Co-chair (with Dr. Thomas Jamir of NOAA-NMFS-SEFSC) of the South East<br />

Aquaculture Consortium (SEACon), a regional center for planning and development<br />

sustainable aquaculture in the S.E. U.S.<br />

Played major role in developing the National Offshore Aquaculture Act of 2005, a<br />

proposed law submitted to Congress in June 5, 2005 and presented to Senate on April 6,<br />

2006. The Act was revised as the National Offshore Aquaculture Act of 2007 and<br />

resubmitted to the Senate, where it is currently under review.<br />
