In their own words Special Olympics is... “a global movement
of people creating a new world of inclusion and community,
where every single person is accepted and welcomed, regardless of ability or disability. We are
helping to make the world a better, healthier and more joyful place — one athlete, one volunteer,
one family member at a time.”
The Special Olympics is dedicated to building communities, changing attitudes, and creating opportunities
through sports training, competitions, health programs and more.
Now that you know who they are and what they do, the biggest question is HOW CAN YOU
HELP? There are so many ways.
First, and easiest, you can donate. Special Olympics is a not for profit organization and runs off
of the generous donations of people like you. If you’d like to donate to Special Olympics Florida,
you can visit the website listed at the bottom of the page.
If you’re unable to donate a monetary gift, or want to go farther than a check can take you, Special
Olympics Florida needs donations of your time as well. You can become an athlete/Unified
Partner by filling out the application on the website. You can also become a coach of the sport
you know best.
If you’re not sporty, you can become a
volunteer and help out with every day
tasks, trips, etc. All of this information
