King film, the show at the Lyceum Theatre in
London is equally brilliant.

unforgettable show that’s
great to include in your
itinerary when you visit
London.

Many of you I don’t doubt
have seen the film, what
better than a trip to the
theatre to enjoy Disney’s
lavish production of The
Lion King. Something of
a global phenomenon,
the show’s performed for
over 90 million guests in
a multitude of languages.
It’s an incredible amalgam
of disciplines and artistry,
bringing together music,
acting dance, puppet
making, stage design,
lighting - in fact it’s hard
to convey how all this is
combined into such a rich
and entertaining package,
resulting in a show that’s
almost dreamlike in quality.
Sitting in the audience,
seeing the curtains open,
the richness of colours was
something akin to sitting
in front of a ‘retina’ screen,
dazzling in fact. What I
found truly staggering was
how clever and effective
the puppet representations
of animals were. Amazing
giraffes, an incredible
cheetah, gazelle wheels,
what is achieved on stage
in terms of visual effects is
brilliant.
The Lion King show has
great appeal to a very wide
audience, children in the
audience loved it, as did
the adults, the loud cheers
and applause at the finish
summed it all up!
TOP TIP - For maximum
luxury and convenience,
a stay at the five star
One Aldwych hotel is an
absolute no brainer as the
Lyceum Theatre is literally
just across the road. Also
Covent Garden and the river
a little way down the road
with the British Museum and
Oxford Street shopping and
the London Eye within easy
walking distance.
