SAILING AND
CHARTER HOLIDAYS
By Jonathan Beach
Having been employed on many fl otilla
holidays I think it is worth discussing the
balmy hot summer evenings where you
can relax and indulge in local cuisines and
beverages.
The personnel from the holiday company
that you booked with will make sure that
you’re well catered for come the evenings.
Whether you are sailing in Spain, Greece,
Italy, France or Turkey it is for certain that
122
you will be able to enjoy fantastic food and
beautiful wines at the many suggested local
restaurants.
I say suggested, as it is well worth asking
the holiday company on their
recommendations, they are there for the
whole season and would have done the
groundwork for you.
The atmosphere can be fantastic, you’ve had
an awesome days sailing and met lovely like
minded people whilst enjoying the weather that
you only dream of at home and now you get to
eat and drink.
Local taverns and tapas bars in Greece and
Spain are fi rm favourites with me and I always
look forward to the social aspect of a chartered
fl otilla holiday abroad sometimes as much as the
sailing. For those that are fortunate to holiday
further afi eld in the Caribbean the same can be
expected and quite often to a higher level.
