We hope all of you got through Hurricane Irma with
little or no damage. It seemed we were up and
running much quicker than Hurricane Wilma. I
believe the local and state governments were prepared
better, as was FPL. Preparation is, without a doubt,
the key to surviving a storm and it is vital for safety and
well-being. It may be a good idea to keep your hurricane
supplies tucked away until the season is done. Afterward,
have a hurricane party with the goodies you stashed
away.
You may notice some of
our regular columnist are
not in this issue. This was
due to civic duties, power
outages, and cleanup after
the hurricane. They will be
back next month.
When you think of October,
do you think of breasts?
Maybe you should. It is
Breast Cancer Awareness
month and time to pay attention to your health. Early
detection can be a life saver when it comes to treating
breast cancer. Fellas, you are not exempt either. Although
it is rare for a man to get breast cancer, it does happen.
It’s very simple to do a self-exam, ask your wives how, or
have your doctor do the exam at your next physical.
After your checkup, treat
yourself to some chocolate.
October has a special day
to pay homage to one of
the most treasured treats.
Whether you like milk, dark,
or white chocolate, this
confection brings smiles to all those who eat it. Dark
chocolate has the health benefits, but it’s all good to me.
Now that the theater and arts season is in full swing, it’s
time to treat yourself to Duo Beaux Arts who will perform
at the Boca Museum of Arts on October 15. Pianists
Catherine Lan and Tao Lin are Coral Springs residents
who have performed worldwide and are deeply involved
in music education. This is a musical treat not to be
missed.
