holy, if you mean to be eternally happy. You may travel to Heaven with never<br />

a penny <strong>in</strong> your purse — but not without hol<strong>in</strong>ess <strong>in</strong> your heart and life also.<br />

Hol<strong>in</strong>ess and contentment. "Godl<strong>in</strong>ess with contentment is great ga<strong>in</strong>." <strong>The</strong><br />

holy person is the only contented man <strong>in</strong> the world. Paul tells us "he had<br />

learned <strong>in</strong> whatever state he was to be content."<br />

Hol<strong>in</strong>ess <strong>in</strong> the home. It is <strong>in</strong> va<strong>in</strong> to talk of hol<strong>in</strong>ess — if we can br<strong>in</strong>g no<br />

letters testimonial from our holy walk<strong>in</strong>g with our family. O, it is sad when<br />

those who have reason to know us best, by their daily converse with us —<br />

speak least for our godl<strong>in</strong>ess! Few so impudent as to come naked <strong>in</strong>to the<br />

streets — if men have anyth<strong>in</strong>g to cover their naught<strong>in</strong>ess, they will put it on<br />

when they come abroad. But what are you with<strong>in</strong> doors? Pray not only<br />

aga<strong>in</strong>st the power of s<strong>in</strong> — but for the power of hol<strong>in</strong>ess. His zeal is false,<br />

that seems hot aga<strong>in</strong>st s<strong>in</strong> — but is cold to hol<strong>in</strong>ess.<br />

6. TEMPTATIONS<br />

"No temptation has overtaken you but such as is common to man; and God is faithful,<br />

who will not allow you to be tempted beyond what you are able, but with the temptation<br />

will provide the way of escape also, so that you will be able to endure it."<br />
