4 senior issue May 17, <strong>2018</strong> W Good Will Awards NOMINATED BY THEIR TEACHERS FOR THEIR INTEGRITY, RESPECT FOR THEIR PEERS AND TEACHERS, FRIENDLY PERSONALITY, AND GOOD SPORTSMANSHIP, 10 INDIVIDUALS WERE SELECTED BY WEST STUDENTS AS GOOD WILL AWARD WINNERS. Destiny Onyeise “Destiny would be every parent’s dream child. She’s polite, engaging, courteous, very friendly, and always includes people who look like they are left out. She also gives every part of herself to others; she’s just a very good kid.” -Raymond Pettenuzzo, track coach Bhagirath Mehta “Bhagirath is one of the kindest, most thoughtful students I have met. While he is wickedly smart, he is approachable and caring, making sure that even in a leadership role, he makes sure he is tuned in to meet the needs of everyone in the room. He is humble and kind - a great combination.” -Audrey Haugan, Principal Catherine Johnson “Catherine has a good will towards everyone. She is very competitive, but maintains compassion for her opponents, her teammates, and her coaches. Catherine is really one of a kind, one of the most genuinely caring people I’ve seen since I’ve been at Maine West.” -Kimberly DeMarigny, basketball coach Grace Tomenille “I’ve known Grace since her freshman year. She used to be very quiet in class and now she’s a Student Council officer! She will drop everything to help Archer and me for Student Council. She’s very funny, very outgoing, and she’s a very talented artist.” - Melissa Lloyd, Student Council sponsor Cory Scholler “It has been my pleasure to get to know and coach Cory for the past 4 years. He is an outstanding young man that puts the needs of others before his own. He has been a leader, mentor, and symbol member of our baseball program since his freshman year. We will miss him greatly and have all benefited from his presence here at Maine West. He will do amazing things wherever his future takes him.” -Ryan Willet, Baseball Coach Dominik Bronakowski “Dominik is a real leader. He constantly goes out of his way to help others. He is an extremely intelligent and thoughtful young man, and I have really enjoyed coaching him at Maine West.” -Andrew Trotter, Track coach Katelyn Aragon “One of the things ‘good will’ means is that you work with everyone; she can do that across every nationality. Very few people have the ability to make others feel better and more confident about a task, but she has that ability. Grace has always made others’ experiences richer and better throughout Student Council, softball, or even in the classroom. It’s an amazing talent to have, and not many people do.” -Matthew McClure, U.S. History teacher Brett Patterson “Brett embodies the characteristics of a true Warrior. He has been a leader and a positive role model throughout his high school career. As Student Council president he has proven to be reliable and will always step up to get the job done. Throughout all of our planning, he has always kept the best interest of his fellow students in mind in order to plan the best events and assemblies.” -Samantha Archer, Student Council sponsor Alisa Fallon “Alisa is a great leader and an outstanding teammate. I believe that’s pretty evident by her being selected to go to West Point; those characteristics stand out if she has the opportunity to go to such a prestigious college.” -Steven Piha, track coach Milos Dugalic “Milos’ moral fiber is second to none and given his intelligence, leadership, and strong family values, Milos is primed to do many great things and become a man that others look to model themselves after.” -Thomas Prokopji, varsity basketball coach
W May 17, 2017 <strong>Senior</strong> Issue 5 Alisa Fallon “With a very talented senior class, among all, Alisa stands out. Fallon is the kind that will take corrections and fix them right away. Knowing her capability after just picking up a discus and shotput for the first time two years ago, it astonishes me that she has adapted so well to this sport and has become an all-state player. Being a coach, you only get to experience one or two athletes like Alisa in your career, and as throwing coach, it has been a pleasure to guide her through her two-year throwing career. ” --Track throwing coach Steven Piha TRACK AND FIELD Maine West record-setter 2-year varisty 2-year IHSA sectional champion 2-year all state IHSA status BASKETBALL 2-year varsity 2-year all state IHSA status “Alisa Fallon is one of the all-time greatest athletes to have ever participated in athletics here at Maine West. Her mere presence on the basketball court changes the outlook of any given situation at any given time. She has accomplished more in two years as a Warrior than many athletes complete in four years, leading the girls basketball team to its best post -season run in 25 years. Her leadership and knowledge of athletics, as well as her skill in execution, has truly qualified her to be Athlete of the Year!” --Basketball coach Kimberly De Marigny Athletes of the Year SOCCER 3-year varsity Captain FOOTBALL 1-year varsity BASKETBALL 1-year varsity “Cory is driven to succeed, and he always wants to do well. No matter what he does in the future, he will succeed as he has all the skills he could need.” - Soccer coach Al Matan “Cory was one of our best hitters, defender, and pitchers this year. He got along with everyone, and when he had something to say, his teammates listened.” - Baseball coach Michael Randazzo BASEBALL 3-year varsity All-Conference Cory Scholler “Cory put the team before himself 100% of the time. After choosing not to play basketball his junior year, the competitor in Cory was itching to get back on the floor to be part of a basketball team one more time.
