What Are The Neurogenic Effects of CBD

Neurogenic, is defined as “caused by, controlled by, or arising in the nervous system.” For example, neurogenic pain is pain that originates in the nerves, as opposed to muscle pain, bone pain, etc. Neurodegenerative diseases represent, nowadays, one of the main causes of death in industrialized countries. It is characterized by a loss of neurons in particular regions of the nervous system. It is believed that this nerve cell loss underlies the subsequent decline in cognitive and motor function that patients experience in these diseases.

A study as early as 2003 concluded that cannabis medicinal extracts can improve
neurogenic symptoms unresponsive to standard treatments. Patients recorded significant
pain relief associated with the CBD along with impaired bladder control, muscle spasms
and spasticity which were improved by CME in some patients with these symptoms.
CBD, in some studies has also been shown to act as an anti-inflammatory, anticonvulsant,
anti-oxidant, anti-emetic, anxiolytic and antipsychotic agent, and is therefore a potential
medicine for the treatment of neuroinflammation, epilepsy, oxidative injury, vomiting and
nausea, anxiety and schizophrenia, respectively.
