technologies.<br />

Bio-Forge: Cooperative <strong>Open</strong> Access Technology Development<br />

Year 1 activities <strong>an</strong>d deliverables:<br />

Further extension <strong>an</strong>d adaptation of the open source software licensing concept<br />

to other types of patented technologies <strong>an</strong>d to MTAs <strong>an</strong>d other contracts.<br />

Exp<strong>an</strong>sion of the portfolio of current technology seeded with <strong>BiOS</strong>-licensed<br />

patents <strong>an</strong>d IP, to include additional tools beyond Crop Molecular Enabling<br />

Technologies.<br />

Initiation of at least one coordinated new technology program based<br />

on open access innovation (e.g. <strong>BiOS</strong>entinels <strong>for</strong> farm <strong>an</strong>d resource<br />

m<strong>an</strong>agement)<br />

Year 2 activities <strong>an</strong>d deliverables:<br />

<strong>Open</strong> <strong>Innovation</strong> License templates available <strong>for</strong> download in several<br />

l<strong>an</strong>guages.<br />

Exp<strong>an</strong>sion of at least one coordinated technology program in global health.<br />

Year 3 activities <strong>an</strong>d deliverables:<br />

Development of Certification program to validate similar license<br />

structures by <strong>an</strong>d <strong>for</strong> third parties.<br />

Integration of project m<strong>an</strong>agement <strong>an</strong>d coordination tools, including<br />

funding mech<strong>an</strong>isms <strong>an</strong>d progress over-sighting into BioForge.<br />

<strong>BiOS</strong> Foundation: <strong>Innovation</strong> System Structural Re<strong>for</strong>m<br />

Year 1 activities <strong>an</strong>d deliverables ongoing into Years 2-3):<br />

Institutional partnering with <strong>BiOS</strong>, including Harvest Plus as well as One World<br />

Health Foundation, Drugs <strong>for</strong> Neglected Diseases, or other programs in public<br />

health.<br />

Engagement with public-good oriented agencies <strong>an</strong>d universities to extend the<br />

BIOS paradigm into public health, medicine, environment, agriculture <strong>an</strong>d<br />

biological industries.<br />
