There may be no bad reason for coming to church, but at least we must come expecting something to happen, expecting God to be active in and through our time together. If we don’t expect that something is happening the days of the Church are surely numbered. We have to imagine new ways of being church … ways in which our structures – both physical and organisational - don’t get in the way of living out the Gospel, not behind closed doors but in the heart of our communities. To resist change is to betray the Gospel. The Holy Spirit calls us to constant change and to resist the call is to resign ourselves to die as the Church. News from Peebles & Eddleston What we’re up to. A Bite and a Blether A Bite and a Blether meets every Wednesday from 11.30am - 1.00pm in Eddleston Village Hall. For a donation of £2.50 come along and enjoy the camaraderie, a bacon roll or vegetarian alternative, home baking, tea or coffee. A warm welcome awaits. Music For A Summer Evening Concert This is a special concert celebrating 10 years of Eddleston Voices the local outreach choir. A lively programme of music will include 'Over the Rainbow', 'Moon River' and a medley from 'Les Miserables'. The Junior Choir will be singing 'A Midsummer Night's Dream' by Kane and Kane. Tickets will be available from choir members or at the door on the night. All proceeds from the evening will go to church funds. The concert is being kindly sponsored by The Horseshoe Inn.
All are welcome to our next FAMILY WALK To PROF VEITCH’S CAIRN, MANOR VALLEY Sunday 10 th June Departs Church Steps 2pm If you have a car and are willing to drive up Manor, please park in the Swimming Pool Car Park. We will all rendez-vous at the foot of the Church Steps at 2pm and work out carsharing. Bring a drink and a snack. Distance: Just over 2 miles altogether on tarred road. No hills to climb! All welcome including well-behaved dogs on leads. Eddleston Church Clean The monthly church clean will take place on Monday 25th June at 9.30am. Dovecot Court Young musicians from Eddleston will be performing at Dovecot Court on Saturday 2nd June and Eddleston Voices will be performing on Thursday 14th June at 7.00pm. End of Term Service Eddleston Primary School End of Term Service will take place in Eddleston Parish Church at 1.30pm on Tuesday 26th June. Crafts Club We have just heard from Tesco that we topped the poll and will receive £4000. We’re delighted with this result and of course thank you to all our readers who have helped by dropping their tokens in the Crafts Club box.
