Legislation changed the
game for welfare units
The demand for welfare
products accelerated due
to legislation passed by the
health and Safety Executive
(HSE) at the turn of the
century, which declared that
welfare must be provided
on any construction or
infrastructure site where
six or more people were
working.
This basic need and right
included supplying a toilet,
a canteen facility and
somewhere to dry wet clothes.
Once again, CEO John
Wood saw the opportunity
to provide the industry
with something that was
drastically needed, which
created the market for
Welfare Hire today.
Another key factor was the
cost of transporting units
in and out that were HIAB
lorries; Welfare Hire sensed
a growing need to move
away from this to bring in a
more mobile unit that can
be hydraulically dropped
into the ground.
The range of welfare units
were developed through
this, providing customers
with units that are complete
with a ceramic flushing
toilet, canteen space and
drying room. Others have
offices and continue the
trend of the company’s
range, which provides
better and more functional
facilities on sites.
The company sets itself
apart by focusing on needs
of the market and products
are developed accordingly.
As a result of this approach,
Welfare Hire has developed
the X-Eco 10 with inbuilt
tower light. The creation
of this product was led by
the needs of a client. This
attention to each and every
customer’s requirements
is something the company
focuses on.
