Passion for peppers
Peter Piper picked a peck of pickled peppers; a peck
of pickled peppers Peter Piper picked. If Peter Piper
picked a peck of pickled peppers, where’s the peck of
pickled peppers Peter Piper picked? If I had to guess
who took those peppers, I’d say it was Jeremy Conner,
owner and founder of Chillie Jelly.
I can honestly say I’ve never
met someone with such a
fiery passion for all things
peppers. From the moment
Jeremy sat down for our
interview his passion for
peppers enveloped us. He
described every variety he
grows with such detail I
could actually see, feel and
taste them. Then he began
to describe combining his
peppers with various fruits
and flavors like habanero and chocolate or jalepeño
and strawberry. My mouth watered and my tongue
tingled as I listened.
I let all the
peppers
shine like
they’re jjj
supposed to.
Of course, I had to ask where this passion came
from and with a smile he said he loved peppers and
spice and he loved balancing flavors and making
them pleasing to all palettes. He told us that chillie
jelly was a popular Southern staple that seemed to
fade through the years. However, he wants to reignite
people’s desire for it. I had never
tried this Southern delicacy, so I
asked how an average Joanie,
like me, would use his product.
At this, Jeremy lit up. He listed
off more ways to use chillie jelly
than you could imagine. Things
like marinating, spreading on bagels
and toast, seasoning meals,
and more. My taste-buds and
imagination danced as I thought
of all of the possibilities in my
own kitchen. If you want to get
in touch with Jeremy you can call 850-398-2318 or
Facebook. He has
a flavor for
every taste
bud so get in
