I have a Bachelor of Aquatic Science majoring in both Chemistry and Biology and experience in various areas of environmental monitoring and improvement including working as a laboratory technician, Community Environment Officer, Water Conservation Planner and most recently as a Greenhouse and Social Planner and Strategic Planner (Integrated Water Cycle Management). Major projects I have implemented include involvement in the development of Geelong’s first Water Sensitive development Sharland Park and project managing the construction of an Ecological Sustainable Designed (ESD) home Sharland Oasis. I spent a number of years implementing Barwon Water’s Water Resources Development Plan (WRDP) in 2003 which was then updated to become Barwon Water’s Water Supply Demand Strategy. I have worked with key industry groups and councils to develop water management plans aimed at reducing water consumption across the region and this involved investigating and implementing a number of alternative water source projects. In my role as Greenhouse Planner I have led the organisation’s corporate commitment to reducing its greenhouse gas emissions and am currently focused on developing a policy and framework for Barwon Water’s role in IWCM for the region. My current role as Senior Water Cycle Management Officer at the City of Port Phillip (CoPP) is to facilitate CoPP’s activities around integrated water cycle management. This includes a range of responsibilities including capacity building, policy development and technical assistance with all aspects of the capital works and maintenance cycle. During my career I have been involved in natural water course rehabilitation, community engagement, planning assessment, precinct, lot and street scale WSUD, stormwater compliance, policy and a range of duties and projects associated with being the WSUD champion in a local government context. I have developed my knowledge and expertise in this field over the last ten years through my work with council, contractors and in retail. In my current position as WSUD Coordinator at the City of Melbourne I have been involved in the development of several major policies including, Total Watermark -City as a Catchment, City of Melbourne’s WSUD Guidelines, and the Climate Change Adaptation Strategy. I have been influential in developing several major stormwater harvesting projects that utilize technology that is a first of their kind. These projects have attracted funding from both State and Federal Governments and are currently in various stages of design and construction. I have also established a WSUD practitioners group consisting of representatives from inner metropolitan councils and Melbourne Water who meet bi-monthly. Page 3
