<strong>Using</strong> <strong>the</strong> <strong>Transfer</strong> <strong>Guide</strong><br />

Thank you for your interest in <strong>Old</strong> <strong>Dominion</strong> <strong>University</strong>!!! The ODU <strong>Transfer</strong><br />

<strong>Guide</strong> is designed to assist students transferring to ODU from <strong>the</strong> Virginia<br />

Community College System and Richard Bland College in determining<br />

course equivalences and transfer credit. This resource should be used as a<br />

guide to recommending courses and completing prerequisites prior to<br />

transferring. Prospective transfer students should refer to <strong>the</strong> current<br />

curriculum sheets (http://uc.odu.edu/advising/cs/) for more specific degree<br />

requirements and applicability of transfer credit.<br />

Courses that do not appear in <strong>the</strong> <strong>Transfer</strong> <strong>Guide</strong> may be transferable but<br />

have not been evaluated at this point. Below is a listing of ODU course<br />

prefixes and additional resources to better understand information<br />

Elective Credit<br />

Courses designated as elective credit (ELE) have not been equated to a specific <strong>Old</strong> <strong>Dominion</strong> <strong>University</strong><br />

course. Abbreviations for elective credit are:<br />

1ELE- Freshman level elective<br />

2ELE- Sophomore level elective<br />

3ELE- Junior level elective<br />

4ELE- Senior level elective<br />

General Education Requirements<br />

A “REQ” (requirement) designation means that <strong>the</strong> course does not equate to a specific lower level general<br />

education course. However, <strong>the</strong>se courses do meet <strong>the</strong> goal of general education requirement and<br />

<strong>the</strong>refore fulfills our lower division requirement. A list of abbreviations used can be found below.<br />
