Words from the Executive Director
The 2010 – 2011 Annual Report provides details about The Trout Museum of Art’s first-full year as a newly minted museum
dedicated to the visual arts. In the past year, we welcomed the Trout Collection to its new permanent home, organized our
Membership Biennial Exhibition, and explored in a profound way the art, words, and science surrounding compassion with the
Appleton Compassion Project. The museum also inaugurated the highly successful Jazz at the Trout music series, celebrated
the 51st annual Art at the Park, and produced the 31st annual SECURA Fine Arts Exhibition. Each of us here at the museum
is delighted to recognize and thank the many donors and volunteers who helped realize these important achievements.
It has been a source of great pride to witness the strong enthusiasm that the museum inspires among its members, friends,
and volunteers and I hope that as you review the report, you feel similarly optimistic about the museum’s future.
Our successes over the past year reflect a strong sense of conviction among our constituencies that The
Trout Museum of Art must secure and advance its standing as a regional art museum of the first rank.
Our membership is at record-high and our Be a Part of the Art Campaign is now at 58 percent of our
$4.6 million. These are noteworthy accomplishments, indeed. I hope you agree that the following pages
clearly demonstrate how strongly the community feels about our mission and our purpose.
For those of you who contributed of your time and resources in service to The Trout Museum of Art
over the past year, I extend my deepest thanks and congratulate you on the exemplary programs you
helped make possible. We will strive to earn your confidence again this year and in the years to come.
