Lígia Afonso It’s about mirages, illusions and disappointments that belongs to the progressive thinking of Henri de Saint- Simon and all the historical and contextual meaning that invests its theoretical production, utopian and revolutionary (…). Lefting from, as a case study, its programmatic textual formulation, often inconsistent and only one among the thousands written by freethinkers in a time of propositional effervescence, and associating it other sources and historical references, mythological, literary, artistic or film core, Susana Gaudêncio generates an iconography of revolutionary motivations and feelings and returns it as a fictional possibility, in the subjunctive present. Developed in series of drawings, that she usually uses and that underlies all production even when only conveyed by printing strategies, this project, as all the work of Susana Gaudêncio takes the video animation as the preferred narrative device. The paradoxes and metaphors, the movement direction and the restatements and reversals imagistic operated them, constitute new fictions that, unlike mirages always constrained to a small air strip on the horizon, embrace the entire universe that Susana Gaudêncio had chosen to create.
