Prior to his appointment in January, 2006<br />

as CEO and more recently in January,<br />

2007 to Chairman of the Board, Klesse<br />

served as Executive Vice President and<br />

Chief Operating Officer, responsible for<br />

all operations, including refining and<br />

marketing for Valero Energy Corporation.<br />

He has served in numerous managerial<br />

capacities in engineering, petrochemical<br />

feedstocks, planning and development<br />

and marketing since joining Diamond<br />

Shamrock, now Valero, in 1969. Klesse<br />

has served on the <strong>NPRA</strong> Board of<br />

Directors since 1998 and as <strong>NPRA</strong><br />

Chairman of the Board from 2004 - 2006.<br />

Valero Energy Corporation is a Fortune<br />

500 company based in San Antonio, Texas<br />

with approximately 21,000 employees<br />

and assets valued at $38 billion. The<br />

largest refiner in North America, Valero<br />

has an extensive refining system with a<br />

throughput capacity of approximately<br />

3.1 million barrels per day. The company’s<br />

geographically diverse refining network<br />

stretches from Canada to the U.S. Gulf<br />

Coast and West Coast to the Caribbean.<br />

Valero also has a mid-stream logistics<br />

system that supports Valero’s refining and<br />

marketing operations. A marketing leader,<br />

Valero has approximately 5,800 retail and<br />

wholesale stores in the United States,<br />

Canada and the Caribbean.<br />
