Shirleybeganworkingattheclinicbeforeopeningit’sdoorstopatientsin<strong>19</strong>99.Shirleywasborn,<br />
raised,andeducatedinChicagohavingearnedaBSandMSinNursingfromDePaulUniversityand<br />
NorthParkUniversityrespectively.ShealsoearnedaDoctorofNursingPracticefromTouro<br />
UniversityNevada.Shirleyisaproudmotherandwife.<br />
ShirleywasinstrumentalinthecreationofthenursingprogramatColegeofSouthernNevada,<br />
havingwritentheL.P.N.nursingprogramforthecolegewheresheservedasamemberofthe<br />
faculty.Shebeganhercareerasapublichealthnurseinthewindycitywhereshewasresponsible<br />
fortherefugeeprogramforthoseseekingcitizenshipintheUnitedStates.Latershewasinstrumentalindevelopinganadulthealthprogram,(WelnessonWheels),whereshetraveledthroughout<br />
thecommunityeducatingandassistingthosewithaddictions,aswelasassistingwithschooland<br />
workphysicals.ShirleywasthePresidentoftheNevadaOpioidTreatmentAssociation,Surveyor<br />
fortheCommissiononAcreditationofRehabilitationFacilities,Tucson.Arizona,andwasa<br />
researchnurseatthelaboratoryoftheBiologyofAddictiveDiseases,atRockefelerUniversity.<br />
ShealsoservedontheBoardofAATODastheNevadarepresentative.Shirleyvolunteeredher<br />
timewiththeAdelsonEducationalCampusconductingdrugtestingforalUpperSchoolstudents<br />
andstaf.Thestudentslovinglycalher“NurseShirley”forsheisknownforhergenuinecarefor<br />
eachofthem.<br />
In2015,Dr.MiriamAdelsonandDr.ShirleyLinzywelcomedtheLasVegasYoungArtistsOrchestra<br />
torehearseinaspacenexttotheAdelsonClinicatMarylandSquare.Beforerelocatingto<br />
MarylandSquaretheorchestrarehearsedinacloseddownthriftstore.Dr.Linzyoversawthe<br />
orchestrastransitionanduseofthespace.Inearly<strong>2018</strong>,theLasVegasYoungArtistsOrchestra<br />
wasrenamedTheDr.ShirleyLinzyYoungArtistsOrchestraofLasVegas.Dr.ShirleyLinzyis<br />
survivedbyherhusband,threechildren,fivesiblingsandsixgrandchildren.
