That day, the soldiers succeeded in killing all the MESS operatives who had fled. The black standard which was hung on the village's flag stand was taken down and burnt with the corpses of the MESS jihadists. "I see we are still the same number as we came, no one was lost. Given the fact that the helicopter which was supposed to carry them back to the camp that day was delayed and so could only pick them up the next day, they decided to spend the night bivouacking at a clearing to celebrate their decisive victory in the area. The inhabitants of that village, to express their gratitude to their saviors had offered them plenty of gifts, mostly crops and fowls. So Ousseini and co seized that opportunity to consume their gifts. Rambo had even bought a demijohn of palm wine to make the party hotter. They spent the night around the fire, singing, clapping and dancing to the tune of "Si ta nga te barre le way." Makume, in his characteristic buffoon style, danced the whole night, putting on a raffia tutu and presenting his buttocks to whoever came across his path while. "Baby sexy boy, you want fuck?" he teased an over-exuberant Priso. "Back off, stinking bastard!" the concerned yelled as he kicked his offender's butt. Everyone started laughing. In the middle of the party, Rambo noticed Adamou was sitting isolated at one corner, staring at his Qur'an. - "Adamou, you don't want to join the party?" he asked the concerned. -"Man, I have other issues in mind," Adamou replied. Rambo looked into the holy book and saw the picture of a pretty lady dressed in wax and wearing a headscarf. -"Pretty your sis," Rambo said jokingly. -"That's my wife, man, and she's pregnant," Adamou retorted. -"Oh that's cool. Me too, I've left my wife and my two kids over there in Koutaba."
-"Nice. She'll put to bed in two months. I accepted to be part of this war for this reason. I wish to offer them a bright future, even when I'm gone, plus my younger brothers and sisters whose responsibility I equally bear," Adamou continued. -"Don't be pessimistic bro. The midday sun, at its peak produced heat so insupportable that even the lizards which usually enjoyed basking under it, sought refuge in the shadows, to escape from the devastating rays of the fiery star. The convoy of jeeps riding past the stony and sandy roads, lifted large amounts of dust amidst the arid lands 'decorated' principally by piled up boulders and mounds on each side of the route, and the vast savannah whose colours seemed to alternate between green and brown, which sought to beautify the scenery. The combatants were merrily chanting mood-stimulating songs, when all of a sudden, the car radio of the jeep leading the convoy rang. It was a call from the base. Speaker: Base to Eta! - (Communication jam) - I repeat Base to Eta! - (Communication jam) - Reply... Ousseini: (Grabbing the radio on the dashboard) Eta to Base! I get you The speaker continued talking for a while but his words were unclear given the loads of interferences which obstructed the communication. This prompted Ousseini to switching the knob on the radio in all directions until the communication became smoother. Speaker: Eta, please reveal your position Ousseini: On guard dog mode, North-West of Position 0 at coordinates 11.0° N and 13.9° E Speaker: We have just received a distress call from Psi.
