Comparing things
When we compare two or more things we sometimes
add er or est to a word.
For example:
A kitten is small.
A mouse is smaller.
An ant is the smallest.
1. Read the report about the weather. Circle the describing
words that compare.
Monday was a wet day. There were deep puddles
everywhere. The sky was dark and the wind was cold.
Wednesday was a wetter day. The puddles had become deeper. The sky was
even darker and the wind was colder.
Saturday was the wettest day. The puddles were the
deepest they had been. The sky was the darkest it
had been all week and the wind was the coldest.
2. Answer the questions about the weather.
(c) Which was the wettest day?
(d) When had the puddles become deeper?
est to some of them.
