Determiners <strong>–</strong> 1<br />

A determiner is usually used before a noun to determine how definite it is.<br />

For example: Our homework was placed on that table with some books because<br />

the teacher wanted us to take a book home each night.<br />

1. Use an article in each blank space to complete these sentences.<br />

An article is a type <strong>of</strong> determiner.<br />

The is a definite article. When it is used, we know the noun is a specific thing.<br />

A or an are indefinite articles. When either one is used, we know the noun is not specific.<br />

the writer or far from the writer.<br />

A demonstrative determiner is a word used before singular or plural nouns to show how far from or near to the<br />

writer or speaker the noun is.<br />
