In response to the federal government vaporizing<br />

the physical Portra<strong>it</strong> Gallery of Canada, Cur<strong>at</strong>or F<strong>is</strong>h<br />

Griwkowsky built a collection in the West, calling on<br />

selected art<strong>is</strong>ts across the country to join in. Trad<strong>it</strong>ional<br />

portra<strong>it</strong>ure will compliment film, music <strong>and</strong><br />

other experimental forms, all w<strong>it</strong>h a focus of Canadian<br />

subjects variously familiar, iconic, personal <strong>and</strong><br />

sometimes abstract.<br />
