Hasn’t the year flown! I mentioned at<br />

our AGM in August that I thought<br />

that we seemed to have a happy club.<br />

Members are supporting most of our<br />

events and activities and feedback<br />

suggests that our Events co­ordinators<br />

Graeme Oxley and Peter Welten (The two<br />

Ronnies) are doing a great job coming up<br />

with interesting ideas, and making them<br />

happen. I am pleased that they agreed to<br />

volunteer to continue for 2018/19.<br />

I would like to thank the Committee that<br />

has supported me, and more importantly<br />

the club activities during the last year.<br />

Most have agreed to stay on Committee,<br />

but I am pleased that David Ferguson has<br />

joined the Committee as Secretary. Nick<br />

Skinner will remain on Committee as<br />

Immediate Past President, but will<br />

transfer his Secretarial duties to David, so<br />

that Nick and Kaylene have more time to<br />

travel. I would especially like to thank<br />

Nick for his support during the past year.<br />

All of the new Committee members and<br />

volunteers are listed elsewhere in this<br />

issue. Volunteers are an essential part of<br />

a successful and happy club. Thank you<br />

to all of you on behalf of all members.<br />

Particular thanks must go to the ladies<br />

who prepare our supper, Anne Gibson,<br />

Jenny Costalunga, June Madden,<br />

assisted from time to time by Jan.<br />

Our first Committee meeting will be in<br />

early October, and at this meeting, we try<br />

and set a direction for the club for the next<br />

two or three years, and then focus on the<br />

short term tasks we need to set ourselves<br />

to have the club head in the right<br />

direction.<br />

An agenda has not been finalised yet, but<br />

will include the Constitution, which we are<br />

required to have updated to reflect current<br />

legislation. Some By Laws will also need<br />

updating. We will also revisit our financial<br />

position and direction, and the types of<br />

events and activities we believe that our<br />

members want. Importantly this is your<br />

opportunity to raise any of your ideas.<br />

On matters Triumph, or specifically TR6, I<br />

replaced a dash board gauge bulb<br />

recently. I then noticed that my<br />

temperature gauge seemed to be reading<br />

low. Testing confirmed this so I replaced<br />

the sender. Problem fixed? No. The<br />

temperature gauge needle went<br />

immediately to the maximum position<br />

(worse than boiling?) And the fuel gauge<br />

similarly over read.<br />

Checking, then more checking, then<br />

peering at a wiring diagram convinced me<br />

that it was a faulty voltage stabiliser<br />

attached to the rear of the speedo. No,<br />

after I replaced it there was no difference.<br />

It turned out that when I was replacing the<br />

bracket that clamps the gauges into the<br />

dash, the bracket was touching one of the<br />

electrical sender connections. That can<br />

happen when you are working blind with a<br />

ham fist stuck up under the dash.<br />

We are looking for a volunteer to help<br />

Peter Byrnes with the regalia tasks. If you<br />
