Restoration Academy's 2018 Annual Report

Each year, at Restoration Academy, we publish a report documenting the way the Lord has worked through our school in the past year. This year is our 30th year of ministry, and we are blessed and fortunate to continue to grow in a time when many comparable urban Christian schools are closing their doors.

This past year, we introduced a monthly newsletter entitled
City on a Hill as a means of sharing some of the many noteworthy
happenings at RA within any given month. We try
to vary the content in order to give a good overview of the
broad range of ways God is actively at work at Restoration
each month. Our hope is that it is as encouraging to those
reading as it is to us putting it together each month! Below
is a sample of some of the stories we ran this year.
A Bulldog for the Bulldogs
School spirit is definitely a part of the high school athletic experience.
And that is no different here at Restoration Academy. Thanks
to our partners in the Samford University Athletic Department, RA
was able to introduce our new Bulldog mascot during the Homecoming
Pep Rally. The students enjoyed the opportunity to cheer
and pose for pictures with Samford’s and RA’s new mascot. So,
please join us in welcoming the latest addition to the RA family!
Celebrating Black History Month
At Restoration Academy we will be using Black History Month to
highlight some of the incredible, historical figures of Black History
who have contributed to our world, our nation, and the advancement
of the gospel. Our students and staff will embark on a time of
rich discovery, including our elementary students who, each year,
create a “living museum” full of amazing historical figures from
Black History.
Restoration on Mission
We hope that our students will continue to make Christ known in
word and deed, in this country and around the world. Last summer
RA students were privileged to participate in three different mission
trips. A group of young ladies went to Panama with our College
and Career Counselor, Molly Stone. Another group of young
ladies went to serve at an inner-city ministry in Huntsville called
Lincoln Village. And recent graduates William Creagh and Stuart
Phipps were able to accompany Dr. Tom and Connie Edwards on a
mission trip in the Ivory Coast in Africa.
Two More 5s for RA
Our desire is that our students will learn to love God with all of their
minds. This summer seniors William Creagh and Stuart Phipps both
received a 5 on the AP Calculus test. Six students have taken the
AP Calculus test within the last seven years, and all six of them have
received a 5, which is the highest score you can receive. The AP
Calculus teacher, Connie Edwards, retired from RA after 17 years
of faithful service.
