role of Music has changed in films.
Film genres and how instruments
are used.
Performance of film themes.
Sound effects.
Writing film Music and sound effects
for a film clip and perform live for
the class.
Group assessments and
performances.
Unit 4 – Variations
Students will study the following:
Musical structures and Variation
form.
Developing listening skills and the
ability to identify changes.
Variation techniques are studied
before students compose Variations
on well-known melodies.
Performance and assessment of
compositions.
Unit 5 – Minimalism
Students will study the following:
The features and techniques used in
Minimalist Music.
Perform unusual pieces in a
Minimalist style.
The techniques to create ostinato
patterns anddevelop into a longer
composition.
Music is written for a purpose /
occasion in preparation for KS4.
Group assessments and
performance.
