• Although schools have shifted to the Next Generation Science Standards (NGSS),<br />
Rhode Island (RI) continues to assess science through the New England Common<br />
Assessment Program (NECAP). The Next Generation Science Assessment will be<br />
administered Spring <strong>2018</strong> for the pilot year.<br />
• RI saw a slight increase in the percent of students proficient in grades 4, a decrease in<br />
grade 8, and an increase in grade 11.<br />
• BPS saw a slight increase in the percent of students proficient in grade 4, an<br />
increase in grade 8, and a decrease in grade 11.<br />
