In Arabic it is not uncommon to start a sentence with the word ‘and’. Oaths
often start with ‘and’ thus this has been kept in line with the original Arabic.
The word “We” when used by The Almighty, does not necessarily denote
plurality but rather it denotes a royal ‘I’.
Where text is in grey it indicates the implied meaning or tone.
It should be noted that in truth The Qur’an is only in the original language
and that any such work of translation is merely an attempt to convey its
meaning, in its original form it is rich with linguistic delights and it is truly a
most awesome composition indeed. Just imagine trying to translate the
most complex poem to another language, its rhyme scheme would be lost,
as would many other nuances and The Qur’an is more lofty than this
example.
Acknowledgements
As the Prophet taught us ‘He who does not thank the people does not thank The
Almighty’. Thus after thanking The Almighty, The Most Kind, special thanks are given
to my father, my sister and brother; Ian, Kathryn and Daniel Renwick. I express my
gratitude to my wife for her support and patience.
Special thanks are reserved for Shaykh Salih Al-Ghamdi and Sister Dr Azizah Al-Yousef
for checking over the work, to Abdulwajid Rana for generously funding the project,
Nyomi Gray for her insightful suggestions, Shaykh Esam for his dawah. To my brother,
Mahmud Bezan and to those who asked not to be named for help, and indeed to all
those who were involved in the project. I pray all are given tremendous reward and
that all are guided by the Almighty Allah, The Most Gracious The Most
Compassionate.
This booklet was put together by brother Jamie Renwick (Abu Ayyub). He embraced
Islam in 2004, having himself been a recording artist, sound engineer and producer.
He later lived in the Holy City of Makkah and is the founding member of
worshipthecreator.co.uk. He has been involved in explaining Islam for over ten years.
Works of authoritative exegesis (such as Ibn Kathir) and multiple translations were
referred to throughout (Sahih International, Pickthall etc.). This booklet has been
checked over by Shaykh Salih Al Ghamdi of Dar Al Hadith, Makkah and sister Dr
Azizah Al-Yousef, a PhD graduate of exegesis (tafsir) of The Qur’an, from Jamiat al
Imam K.S.A.
All Praise is due To Allah, The Most Gracious, The Most Compassionate
