Chemical Database: A Case of Data Grid Application

Abstract Integration of distributed data sources is an important development of chemical database. The strategy
of data integration is developed in this paper, based on the compound identifiers and their characteristic of
correlating data resources from different branches of chemistry. The distributed chemical data sources can be
integrated and released by the Web service based chemical data grid, using the core service of data grid developed
by the Computer Network Information Center, Chinese Academy of Sciences. The result of this work shows that the
requirement of data integration can be fitted b y the chemical data grid with the compound identifier based data
integration. The Web service based data access can further be used to the integration and sharing of distributed
chemical data application, by which a platform for chemical research can also be developed.
