04 UPDATES FROM THE CHANNELS I AM SAT-7 Petra Charabaty SAT-7 KIDS FROM ALPHA TO OMEGA It can be challenging to understand the Bible when first introduced to its terminology. The SAT-7 TÜRK team are underway with a new bite-sized series called From Alpha to Omega, seeking to explain Christianity in a simple and visual way. Spending each ten minute episode on one theological term, SAT-7 TÜRK will air From Alpha to Omega between longer programs on its 24/7 schedule. 136 episodes of the program will be uploaded to social media to create open discussion spaces. 0.2% of the Turkish population are Christians What does your role with SAT-7 involve? I am a Schedule Coordinator for SAT-7 KIDS and an Assistant Producer and Director for some of the children’s programs. I also assist the SAT-7 KIDS Channel Manager and am involved in acting on some of the programs, when needed. I was previously the Arabic language teacher on the My School program. What do you like about working with SAT-7? I have done many internships and worked in production companies before, but the most important element in a healthy working environment is respect between colleagues. I haven’t found this anywhere else except at SAT-7. Tell us a little bit about your spiritual journey so far. I have been through various challenging situations in my life and without my faith and belief in God I don’t know how I could have faced any of them. He brings happiness and contentment into my life. I am proud to be a Christian because I have experienced the true meaning of love. If you could sit down with Jesus today, what would you like to ask Him? I would ask Jesus one simple question: am I on the right path in my life? What is your passion outside SAT-7? I can’t live without music, even when I am working. I am currently taking lessons to learn to play an oriental instrument called “Qanun”. I also like singing, especially in my church choir. I am a big fan of basketball and enjoy watching any game regardless of who is playing. SAT-7 KIDS SHOWCASES TALENTED YOUNG MIDDLE EASTERNERS A recent performance by a children’s choir from Egypt was broadcast on SAT-7 KIDS. The “A Moment of Prayer” performance of the Heaven’s Harp Choir showcased the talents of over 200 children and teens. Several members of the choir also played a variety of instruments such as the violin, cello, guitar, drums and many more.
UPDATES FROM THE CHANNELS 05 SAT-7 ACADEMY PROGRAMS MOVE TO OTHER ARABIC CHANNELS Findings of a recent viewer survey of more than 20,000 adults across the Arab world, revealed that almost all SAT-7 ACADEMY channel viewers also watch the SAT-7 ARABIC and SAT-7 KIDS channels. This was encouraging news, but it also indicated that SAT-7 ACADEMY could be more effective if merged with these channels. As of 1 <strong>November</strong> <strong>2018</strong>, SAT-7 ACADEMY ceased to exist as a 24/7 satellite TV channel and became a brand, broadcasting social impact and educational programs for adults on SAT-7 ARABIC and for children on SAT-7 KIDS. “By broadcasting our SAT-7 ACADEMY educational and social impact programming on these two channels, we will be reaching larger and better segregated audiences than was possible from a separate, single channel,” states Dr Terence Ascott, SAT-7’s Founder and CEO. SENDING A SIGNAL TO ISOLATED BELIEVERS SAT-7 PARS has started broadcasting a unique weekly live show from the Limassol studio in Cyprus. The two Presenters of Signal informally share general news and events, including updates and promos about other programs on the channel. The program hopes to support isolated believers by encouraging them to call in to the show, sharing viewer testimonies, and praying for and with viewers. They will also occasionally broadcast live worship from the studio, something that isolated believers cherish and long for. NEW YOUTH PROGRAM TEACHES BIBLICAL VALUES A new youth program on SAT-7 ARABIC has been produced in collaboration with Arab Focus Media. Cry Freedom uses biblical stories, and stories of historical Christian figures to teach personal responsibility, being a faithful witness in times of danger, the sanctity of life, and forgiveness. Cry Freedom is produced outdoors in a natural setting, providing a contrast to the usual indoor studio talk shows.
