Christian Aid.
In order to offer this service to the community we need volunteers to wait behind
after the Christmas morning service, to prepare and serve the meal. We also need
people to provide transport for those who need it.
If you would like to help please speak to the minister.
Welcome
The 11 th of November 2018 marks 100 years
to the day since the signing of the Treaty of
Versailles and the end of World War One, a
war widely referred to as ‘the Great War’ or
‘the war to end all wars’, and one which left
millions of soldiers dead and wounded. From
Scotland alone, of the 557,618 men who
enlisted in all services, 147,000 lost their
lives.
But what of those who did return and the
families that they returned to? Things
would certainly never be the same again....
This exhibition examines the impact of World
War One for the people of rural Scotland in
the immediate post war years and provides
an insight into the challenges they faced and
the adjustments they had to make in a new
time of peace, and how this has shaped the
face of farming and the rural Scotland we see
today.
WW100 Exhibition
Part of a large WW1 Exhibition will be shown
in Eddleston Parish Church over the month of
November. The Kirk Session are very grateful
to Gillian Chapman for providing the material
and displaying it in the building. The church
will be open daily from 11.00am – 3.00pm to
allow people to come in and view the exhibition. Please look out for further
information on the church notice board and on social media.
