Is there a limit to happiness?
I have delightful children and grandchildren and, it must not be forgotten, a wonderful
husband who supports me, gives me great freedom and encourages me to live my passion:
making quilts. I had an excellent career as a jurist. And then I crossed paths with Carol Veillon!
Millefiori 1 (published in 2011) was born from that meeting that took place here.
It was followed by Millefiori 2 in 2015 and now here is Millefiori 3. My hands never stop!
Of course, I am proud of these three marvellous books but the pleasure that so many quilters
seem to derive from them is even more important for me. While the quilts Passacaglia
and Ballet with Kaffe Fassett are those most frequently mentioned on social media,
I also often see references there to other patterns of mine that are less complex.
It is very interesting to see how people take one of my patterns and give it their own personal
touch, choosing particular fabrics or colours or by making small changes to it.
The differences in techniques chosen are also striking. Some prefer running stitch while
others opt for paper piecing. But whether it is for one or for the other, there is a large variety
on the market of templates (plastic or paper) and of shapes to print on fabric. Some sigh
and struggle (successfully) with all these small pieces while other enlarge the pattern
and sew by machine.
To have the freedom of choice, that’s my goal!
When I am asked to inscribe a book, I always write, “I wish you much
inspiration and pleasure.” I see that my wishes have become reality
when they show me completed quilts. That brings me great satisfaction and gives me
the energy to continue.
I am happy to meet so many enthusiastic quilters, to have the possibility of helping them
and to be invited to exhibit.
And here is my third book! Once again, I tried to offer some quilts for beginners
and some for those more experienced, who do not fear taking on a challenge.
It only remains for me to wish you the following: ENDLESS INSPIRATION and PLEASURE
in the way in which you choose to make these quilts!
