Charlene is a third year medical student in Hong Kong, passionate about global<br />

surgery. She previously studied the antimicrobial effect <strong>of</strong> various floral honeys on<br />

normal skin flora in an attempt to find alternative treatments for surgical site<br />

infections. In this article, she highlights the potential impact <strong>of</strong> honey on safer<br />

surgery and antibiotic stewardship.
