Contiki Launches Epic ‘7 Wonders of the <strong>World</strong>’ Adventure<br />

The youth travel brand has put together the ultimate travel itinerary that spans seven continents to tick off your bucket list<br />

offering epic global adventures for<br />

18 to 35-year old’s, has launched<br />

an epic 82 day round the world trip, simply<br />

called the ‘7 Wonders’ adventure, that takes<br />

in all New7Wonders of the world – including<br />

the Taj Mahal, the Great Wall of China<br />

and Machu Picchu. The New7Wonders<br />

resulted from a campaign launched in<br />

2000 by philanthropist Bernard Weber to<br />

select the wonders of the world from a list of<br />

200 existing monuments, with the winners<br />

announced on July 7th, 2007 in Lisbon.<br />

With the launch of their latest adventure<br />

dubbed, Israel & Jordan Uncovered –<br />

Jordan being the home to the ancient site of<br />

Petra – Contiki now offers trips for young<br />

travellers to all seven of the wonders and as<br />

such has been able to create the ultimate<br />

itinerary around the world to witness each of<br />

them.<br />

Starting in Delhi on March 24th, 20<strong>19</strong>, the<br />

adventure starts with the first wonder, the Taj<br />

Mahal. The trip then moves on to China for<br />

a visit to the Great Wall before heading to<br />

Mexico to explore the Mayan ruins of<br />

Chichen Itza. Travellers then move to South<br />

America to visit Machu Picchu in Peru before<br />

heading on to Brazil, home of the Christ the<br />

Redeemer statue. Then to Petra in Jordan,<br />

home to the giant metropolis of tombs,<br />

monuments, and other elaborate religious<br />

structures that are carved into stone cliffs.<br />

The epic adventure ends in Italy on June<br />

13th, 20<strong>19</strong> to see the final wonder on the<br />

list, the ancient Roman amphitheatre known<br />

as the Colosseum.<br />

The ‘7 Wonders’ adventure will see<br />

Canadians visiting nine countries in depth,<br />

exploring their local icons, traditions,<br />

cuisines and cultures – on average allowing<br />

12 days to explore the country where each<br />

popular site is located. The trip is made up<br />

of five of Contiki’s most popular itineraries,<br />

plus its brand new ‘Israel & Jordan<br />

Uncovered’ trip.<br />

The New 7 Wonders travellers will visit<br />

include:<br />

Taj Mahal, India (on Contiki’s ‘Eternal<br />

India’ trip from March 24-April 4, 20<strong>19</strong>):<br />

The trip kick-starts with a 12-day trip<br />

through India, where young Canadians will<br />

visit the iconic Taj Mahal in Agra, the<br />

world’s most recognized mausoleum. The<br />

mausoleum, completed in 1653, was commissioned<br />

to house the tomb of the then-<br />

Emperor’s favourite wife. Bucket-list experiences<br />

don’t end there. In India there’s also<br />

tiger-spotting in Ranthambhore National<br />

Park, rickshawing through the streets of<br />

Jaipur, relaxing beachside in Goa and city<br />

explorations of Udaipur and Mumbai.<br />

Great Wall of China, China (on Contiki’s<br />

‘China Adventure’ trip from April 7-18,<br />

20<strong>19</strong>): Next stop is Beijing to visit the<br />

Mutianyu section of the Great Wall of China<br />

where travellers can explore the watchtowers<br />

and fortresses, and gaze out across the
