Aleen and Gladys first met at the Bethesda Naval<br />
Hospital near Washington, D.C. during their service<br />
in the U.S. Navy. Gladys initially worked as an<br />
RN in the psychiatric division, then transferred over<br />
to support the veterans returning with war-related<br />
trauma when she met Aleen. Aleen’s interest in language<br />
and special education problems began when she worked<br />
