MUUBS / At Muubs we work with artists globally
and locally to create objects for the home we
love and crave. No matter where in the world
the artists come from, they have a passion for
defining “the darker side” of Scandinavian design.
We call it ‘Nordic Noir’. They are the people
that can make you feel at home, the people
that know you better than you know yourself,
and the people that make sure no one lives like
you. They help add those missing pieces of soul
to your home. We asked Birgitte, the designer
at Muubs, a couple of questions.
What is your story/what defines you?
“I’m just like you are. We’re all human, we’re all
imperfect. In our own perfect way.”
Which is your favourite product in the new
collection?
“One of my clear favourites is the new Ceto line
of dining products inspired by Japanese tea
ceremony pottery. These items are often rustic
and simple looking, with shapes that are not
quite symmetrical. The plates and bowls are
deliberately nicked at the bottom, celebrating
perfect imperfection and the colours are inspired
by fading autumn leaves that emphasise
simple style. The products look amazing when
combined with our beautiful teak plates and
bowls – not to forget our new linen napkins in
faded colours”.
What is your vision when you design products?
“Creating products that are made to move,
touch and inspire, and celebrating the perfect
imperfection in modern living are what drive
us at Muubs every single day. I believe that
being surrounded by natural, changing, unique
objects helps us connect to our real world and
escape potentially stressful distractions.
What is the best advice you’ve been given?
It’s frees your mind. Fuels your passion.”
