22 There is a small organization in Jacksonville and Pittsfield,<br />

Illinois, known the Zions Camp Illinois Trail Committee.<br />

Members of this group have spent years researching the Zion’s<br />

Camp story as it pertains to their region. Although their for¬<br />

mal training is in the medical field, they are individuals of great<br />

capacity who meticulously seek out and utilize all available<br />

sources of learning, both published and on site. Several of this<br />

group took me to Spring Creek, the Jacksonville campsite,<br />

Geneva, and the Zelph mound to ensure that I took images of<br />

the correct sites. Moreover, I learned stories and traditions<br />

from this area that were subsequently included in the text of<br />
