and it’ll suit you right down to a tee!
With many of the region’s courses designed by the likes
of Robert Trent Jones, Gary Player, Jack Nicklaus, Dave
Thomas, Seve Ballesteros and Chema Olazábal, it’s no
surprise that the Costa del Sol ranks among the finest
golfing destinations in the world, and it’s certainly no
stranger when it comes to staging the most prestigious
of tournaments. Valderrama, for example, is the only
golf course outside the UK and US to have hosted the
renowned Ryder Cup, as well as the American Express
Championship, not to mention various editions of the
Volvo Masters.
During golf’s traditional peak season typically running
from September to May, you’ll almost certainly need to
book in advance to make sure of playing on the course
of your choice and at the time that suits you best, but in
the summer – with local residents away on holiday, and
golfers from northern Europe playing at their Clubs back
home – there’s room… and to spare!
With fewer golfers, you’ll have all the time in the world
to hone your game on the putting greens, driving range
and practise areas, as well as enjoying a leisurely round
of golf. And at this time of year many Clubs also charge
reduced green fees, or have special offers such as a free
buggy, or maybe breakfast on the house.
