LOCAL Election season in LA St. Timothy’s wins big at decathlon St. Timothy School’s academic decathlon team won first place at the Annual Junior High Academic Decathlon on March 3, paving the way to represent the Archdiocese of Los Angeles in the state competition in San Francisco on April 6, 2019. The West LA parochial school’s students earned the top honors while competing against about 100 Catholic schools from the counties of Los Angeles, Ventura, and Santa Barbara. “Their ability to focus, work together and collaborate as a group has been key to their success,” said St. Timothy principal Mrs. Lena Randle. “They have lifted each other up and truly embody a team spirit. I could not be more proud of them, both as decathletes and as kind and humble people.” This will be the school’s first time going to the state competition. The rite is the final step in the catechumenate leading up to baptism for the 786 adults and 774 children who will officially be welcomed into the Catholic Church when they are baptized at this year’s Easter Vigil in their respective parishes across the archdiocese.
