<strong>York</strong> ~ Mount Agamenticus<br />
Mount Agamenticus is set amidst a 13,000<br />
acre expanse of intact forest in southern<br />
Maine and is one of the largest remaining<br />
unfragmented forests in coastal New England.<br />
The region is noted for its rich natural<br />
resources and outdoor recreational opportunities.<br />
The land encompasses vernal<br />
pools, drinking water reservoirs, abundant<br />
biodiversity, and a network of 40 miles of<br />
well maintained trails.<br />
Year round activities include picnicking/<br />
sightseeing, birding, hiking, and mountain<br />
biking. A self guided StoryWalkTM can be picked up at the base and the pages can be followed<br />
along the Ring and Witch-hazel trails to the summit. Picnic tables, seasonal portable toilets,<br />
and decks offering spectacular views of distant mountains,<br />
inland ponds and the ocean are located at the summit. The<br />
Mount Agamenticus Learning Lodge, a converted summit<br />
ski lodge, is open to the general public on weekends from<br />
11am-3pm from Memorial Day Weekend through Columbus<br />
Day Weekend. Inside you will find a variety of educational<br />
activities and displays for all ages.<br />
The area is open year round during daylight hours. Donation<br />
tubes area available at the base trail head and by the summit<br />
kiosk. Larger groups are asked to register in advance. Parking<br />
and trail access can be found the base or a paved access<br />
road can be driven to the summit park. For more information<br />

South Berwick ~ Vaughan Woods<br />
Go for a hike at Vaughan Woods State<br />
Park located at 28 Oldfields Road in South<br />
Berwick, Maine. Vaughan Woods Memorial<br />
State Park is a 250-acre forested tract along the<br />
scenic Salmon Falls River. The park includes<br />

picnic facilities and hiking trails through oldgrowth<br />
stands of pine and hemlock. Hiking<br />
is available on several trails that connect to<br />
make up one large loop, a system of 3+ miles.<br />
Visitors can walk shorter looping sections if<br />
they choose. There is a gate fee. Park Season:<br />
